The CSE or Civil Services Examination is among the most difficult national level competitive exams. It is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) of India. The exam is conducted to recruit candidates to the many Civil Services posts in services like the Indian Police Service, Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Revenue Service. Indian citizens who are between the age of 21 and 30 are eligible to appear for the exam. The candidates are required to have completed their UG exam.

The exam has three phases. First is the Preliminary Examination, which is followed by the Main Examination, and the Personal Interview. The Preliminary Exam has two objective-type papers, one is on General Studies and the other is the Aptitude Test. The second part has nine papers. The book is based on the revised pattern of the examination. The section titled Fundamentals of Economics is inclusive of 300 questions that deal with the important concepts of General Economics. Part B that is Indian Economics and has around 300 questions. It focuses on the basic principles of the Indian Economy since independence. Part C is titled Indian Economy and includes 400 questions that focus on the performances, outcomes, and the current aspects of the Indian Economy. Previous Years' Questions include 150 questions which are frequently asked in the preliminary exams.
