If you have seen the movie, reading this book is a must. It gives the flavor of the times, from the perspective of a slave. Also, its interesting that this book was lost in oblivion for 200 years, and the movie has sort of rediscovered it for the readers.

very nice book to read. its a real story and every one must read it. it encourages us and gives us strength to stand tall against all hardships. i recommend all to read this book. 12 years a slave.
