  • Description

34 Bubblegums And Candies by Preeti Shenoy is a compilation of thirty four short stories, which teach about life lessons and are based on the author’s personal experiences.

    Summary Of The Book

34 Bubblegums And Candies is a book for anyone and everyone. It features a series of short stories with a variety of themes, that were taken from real life events in the author’s life. Many of the stories featured in this book are common, everyday occurrences which every reader can relate with. Since each story attempts to elicit a different type of response, readers can simply pick and choose the story they wish to read without following the natural order of the stories. For instance, in one story Shenoy talks about how the date of her dad’s demise and the birth of her brother’s first child coincided. In another heartwarming story, Shenoy talks about what life is like for children living with HIV.

In this particular story, she emphasizes that these kids are just like any other children and should be hugged and loved. Shenoy also explores the theme of faith as it appears in parent-child relationships by talking about her relationship with her 6-year old daughter. Due to the mundaneness of the stories, readers can easily relate to Shenoy. The book is organized into thirty four chapters, featuring 34 stories. Some of the titles of these chapters are My Special Friend, Feeling Needed, Age Miracles, The Stranger, and Mail Exchange. Shenoy ends each story with inspiring and thought provoking notes that explain how various experiences teach us something valuable.

34 Bubblegums And Candies was published in 2008 and was a national bestseller.

'Oh My God' - Summarizes all the pages in the book!

Well, the above review title is lil modified version of a line taken from this book:) (Actuaul line in the book is: "'Oh my god'-summarizes most reactions!").

Many call the author as 'anology queen'. I read her second book 'Life is what you make it' at first and then this one. Trust me, if u'r a person from a traditional Indian family and currrently moving towards modern family & living (knowingly/unknowingly), do not wait to read this book.

"The beauty lies in the details of the life!" (My...

Well its a collection of short stories of the author's own life.
I found around 28-30 stories quiet good to read. They were really nice. They were nice because in our lives too short incidents happen anyday, anytime.
Just a one shot read. I dint find that much interesting to read once again.

    Nice book

If you have a busy schedule of work or studies, this book will come as a very light-hearted , refreshing read. This book is not a collection of short stories, but of experiences, incidents, funny, sweet, emotional and lovely. I gave this book to many of my friends who are not much in the habit of reading, even they have liked the short, precise, lively incidents compliled together as a collection.

This was my first book that I took through flipkart and really liked the service, after that ...

    Worth reading

This book by Preeti Shenoy is worth reading. Its a good compilation of short stories, which are very general in nature and everyone comes across such situation in their day to day life. Some stories have good lesson to learn. For some people these stories may appear quite ordinary. A very light book and one can finish it at one go. Good job by a debutant author.

Reminds you of your golden era of your life, your cool-age!!

I liked the way author steers us through her story!!
A very simple narration, so many incidents that you could relate to our own life.
I cannot assure you that this book is going to blow your mind, no!! it completely depends on your personal interests and opinion.

But In my opinion, for readers looking out for books to read in their leisure without abstruse vocabulary usage, THIS BOOK IS IDEAL!!
