Description

The Big Four is a murder mystery by the Mistress of Murder, Agatha Christie. It features the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot and his friend Arthur Hastings.

Summary of the Book

An uninvited guest arrives at Hercule Poirot’s doorstep one day, covered in dust. His arrival steeps Poirot in a strange mystery unlike any he has ever faced before. What is the significance of the number 4 that the man scribbles again and again on a piece of paper? Before Poirot can understand the scene before him, the man turns up dead. Soon, Poirot finds himself entering a world of suspense and facing an international crisis. His enemies are far more dangerous than usual, and this time, not even his grey cells might be enough to stop them.

Good Read but not as thrilling as expected

This book is a deviation from the usual affairs of Hercule.
This time he is not solving a murder but instead trying to capture and defeat an international underground organisation lead by a mater mind (whom Hercule is apparently anxious to beat to prove his statement that he is the most intelligent)

Its a little bit of a let down if you expect an ordinary looking murder with an anti-climax twist in the plot leading to a surprising finish to the story.

I liked it a bit.

This book is written not in the ordinary style.A series of tiny cases are solved to get more knowledge about the big four and finally take them down.It is a sort of story in which a criminal gang is to be caught and not exactly a detective novel.
The book was too long and hence got boring many a time.
On the whole,a good read I can say.
