Advanced Concepts in Operating Systmes (English, Paperback, Singhal)
Advanced Concepts in Operating Systems: Distributed Database And Multiprocessor Operating System 1st Edition is a book that provides an all-inclusive subject matter in the field of operating systems. This book can be used as a text by students, and as a reference guide by professionals. It consists of up-to-date information, problem sets and examples to help readers get an in-depth understanding of the concepts behind operating systems.
Summary Of The Book
Advanced concepts in operating systems is a subject taught at most universities. In the last twenty years, this field of study has evolved rapidly. Though a general agreement on what to teach has been reached between Departments of Computer Science worldwide, the source of information is not centralized. Authors of Advanced Concepts in Operating Systems: Distributed Database And Multiprocessor Operating System 1st Edition say that this issue lead them to write a comprehensive book on the dynamic subject.
In recent years, the focus of research has been on database operating systems, distributed operating systems, and multiprocessor operating systems. Their design errors have been resolved, and their mechanisms have now been well understood. Thus, Advanced Concepts in Operating Systems provides in-depth details of these operating systems. The text in this book is accompanied by numerous examples, figures, and case studies. This makes it easier for readers to grasp the information provided. The book is divided into seven parts, with each one having a group of chapters within. Part I to VII are Process Synchronization, Distributed Operating Systems, Distributed Resource Management, Failure Recovery and Fault Tolerance, Protection and Security, Multiprocessor Operating Systems, and Database Operating Systems, respectively.
Every chapter ends with a set of design, conceptual, and descriptive questions. Singhal and Shivaratri have covered topics that are most commonly taught by the world’s top fifty Departments of Computer Science. Advanced Concepts in Operating Systems: Distributed Database And Multiprocessor Operating System 1st Edition is designed for undergraduate students. However, this book can be used as a reference guide by practicing engineers, programmers, and researchers.
