Advanced Level Physics is a revised and updated version of the original book and contains the latest and up-to-date information in Advanced Physics.
Summary Of The Book
In Advanced Level Physics, Parker and Nelkon build on their original text by adding information about the latest developments in the study of Physics.
Students who do not have much confidence in their mathematical skills will find this version of the text quite useful. In each chapter, there is a clearer presentation of concepts, through easy-to-understand descriptions, formulae, and diagrams. Even though the text covers principles of both classical and modern physics, the emphasis is more on the latter. In Advanced Level Physics, students can also expect to find the latest developments in modern physics.
In order to build confidence, students will gain the opportunity to practice with a large range of problem sets, which will also help them comprehend specific concepts. The answers to these sets can be conveniently found at the back of the book. Students requiring additional Physics practice can access study guides written by the same authors.
Advanced Level Physics was originally published in 1995 by Heinemann Educational Publishers.
About The Authors
Michael Nelkon has authored several Physics textbooks including Principles Of Physics, Principles Of Atomic Physics And Electronics, Elementary Physics, Books 1 & 2 (2 Vols. in 1) (Bks. 1 & 2), and Advanced Level Physics.
Philip Parker has co-authored Advanced Level Physics with Nelkon.
Part I : Mechanics, Solid Materials
Part II : Electricity
Part III : Geometrical Optics, Waves, Wave Optics, Sound Waves
Part IV : Thermal Properties of Matter
Part V : Electrons, Electronics, Atomic Physics
Although there are not much problems, this book is very good at presenting theory. Even a tenth standard student can learn to build some concepts in physics by reading this book carefully.
This can be very good addition to your house library if interested. Don't expect any standard problems.
If u r looking for tough problems and very deep concepts, this is not the book.It has got good qualitative description of the theory of materials but in other topics it is equal to h.c.verma or other books if not less than them.If u r new to physics u should buy it as a good starting book.
