A breathless readI just finished reading the book, and i must say its Paulo Coelho in all his glory! The book will make you laugh and cry and heal you at the same time. It will transport you to a completely different universe all together. Its a great read and a pure delight. I am breathless and at peace with everything at the same time.

Perhaps a good readI have loved his writing style but somehow could not get to complete this one. Did not find it gripping enough. Not to take anything from the author, perhaps I was not in a frame of mind to read this differently written book.

Not the best of Paulo coelho's work !!!With great anticipation i bought the book by advance booking. Thanks to flipkart for its great service. But the book was not worth at all. This book has great resemblance to "Many Lives Many Masters". Both deal with reincarnation, re-birth. Not much punch dialogues, no great philosophy!! Paulo coelho's Alchemist, zahir, pilgrimage, fifth mountain, eleven minutes are classics. This book is no where nearer to those books !!

It is crap!!The philosophy seems self-contradictory, and most of the statements seems like blabbering. Though some statements are really good and thought provoking. The story is boring and intolerable at times. Unlike previous books this doesn't have much of historical information. It seems the author wanted to share his inner-most fantasy of making love with a girl one-third of his age, hence wrote this novel. Few statements like "Time doesn't pass, it changes" is illogical and confusing.

Shouldnt be the 1st of coelho's book you should be reading !This was not the 1st book i read of paulo's and certainly not recommended to be the 1st book by paulo you should be reading.I have read alchemist before which was a master piece and so my expectations were pretty high when i ordered this book. But this book failed to live upto my expectation for obvious reasons. Its more of the personal journey of coelho realization of self and at some points fails to relate to you but i liked the way he puts in the fact that life is a journey and every step you take teaches you something about yourself, something which we forgot ever existed. In all a pleasan… (Expand)

A Very Deep and Symbolic BookAleph is a beautifully written travel novel. It tells about the experience of a person in a very different way. Its about how he finds himself spiritually after many failed attempts over many lives. It also shows the relationship between love, faith and forgiveness. A book worth reading for everyone. It will surely leave you thinking about the upcoming course of your life.

I never understood how readers like Paulo Coelho's work?I never understood how readers like Paulo Coelho's work? Apart from 'The Alchemist' non of his book has impressed me. I have stopped buying his books now. But I have a feeling that, there is some problem in the translation of his original work which is not in English.
