Algorithms For Interviews (AFI) aims to help engineers interviewing for software development positions as well as their interviewers. AFI consists of 174 solved algorithm design problems. It covers core material, such as searching and sorting; general design principles, such as graph modeling and dynamic programming; advanced topics, such as strings, parallelism and intractability. It also covers system design, problem solving, and interviewing techniques. AFI\'s authors are practicing algorithmists, with extensive academic and industrial experience. They have collectively published over 100 articles on applied algorithms, applied their skills at Google, Microsoft, IBM, Qualcomm, and a number of smaller software startups, and conducted many job interviews for various computer science jobs.

I bought this book few days ago. I have read 5 out 11 chapters.
I totally deny to buy this book. There are lots of mistakes in the solution. The way author has tried to explain various solutions is stupid and mystic. If I compare this book with Programming Pears by Jon Bentley (which I also have read), then I must say this book is a farce. If you are really interested in interview related algorithms, by algorithm by skeina, and solve its chapter end problems.
Overall, not at all worth to spend money and time on this book.
At the max you can just skim on online copy, if available.
I bought this book based on positive reviews from others. Big mistake!
The first thing you notice once you receive this book is its size. It is so small for a book costing Rs. 500+ and so boring to read!
When I went through the book, I noticed that there was hardly any theory. It consisted of only problems like an exercise book, and they were not that good quality either.
Overall a waste of money. Giving a rating of 1 as 0 rating is not allowed on flipkart. Save your money and read Cracking the Coding Interview by Gayle Laakmaan instead.
A must have for someone who
1) Wants to crack Google/Facebook interviews
2) Simply love algorithms and design
This book has covered multiple topics and contains a good collection of problems and their solutions.
This book had all the required content for Google.
I feel this is not so useful for other companies as the content is complicated and no company expects candidates to solve the research problems in interviews.
Though I have not yet finished all chapters but found the book very well written book contains exercises for every type of algorithms good should be thoroughly read and implemented by candidate. The price of book is bit higher compare to other books on algorithm but is worth paying if you are looking for different kind of algorithmic problems.
