AMD 3.4 GHz AM3 Phenom II 965 Processor

This CPU probably the best choice in the X4 phenom II range. And, i hate to disagree with others, but AMD and Intel calculate their TDP or typical dissipation power in different ways (AMD rates the max, whereas intel rates the avg). even though intels may be rated lower power they are actually more than that. Usually its the same, if not intel being hotter. This is evident as intels will go to anything like 70C, where as AMDs idle at almost room temparature and never go past 60C.

This quad core is perfect as most application nowadays dont utilize more than 4 cores.

Perfect choice for gaming. I prefer this over all i3's and the lower models of i5 (SB).

And being an AMD this is real fun to overclock! Also the cooler provided is awesome, with 4 HEATPIPES! better than the aluminium crap on competitors.

Overall, if you want performance at a low price, without having your computer acting like a room heater, this CPU is perfect.

This processor will generally outperform the intel CPUs sold at this price point. Downside is that the architechture is not as efficient as intels' second generation core i3/i5's and hence this consumes more power which is shown by its TDP of 125 watts. If you want to play the latest games and are wondering if this is right... then yes, this thing can play the games like crysis 2 without a hiccup (obviously you need to pair it with a capable graphics card). I would rate this a better buy than the lower clocked six core phenom II's as it operates at 3.4 Ghz and most app's which can't take advantage of the additional cores will work well due to higher clock speeds of this processor.

In case you don't know what I am talking about, you probably don't need this CPU, go for something like dual core processor, taking a look at its power consumption. It should suffice you for years to come.

The AMD Phenom 2 X4 965 black edition is an amazing processor, i m using it with corsair 4gb 1600mhz ram and it gives a satisfactory performance. It is way cheaper than any Intel processor and outperforms its intel counterparts.

There is one issue though.....It requires more wattage and gets heated up........so in case u don't have a good chassis and smps then go for intel.

If u want to feel like u are listening to F1 racing all the time, then i suggest you get this processor. Guess what, i bought this processor since its cheap and promised great performance. And, i agree its pretty fast, but would you buy a washing machine instead of a processor just because it's fast. Initially i bought a normal mercury SMPS and case, which failed in 2 days. Why? The SMPS could not handle the heat. Then i spent an extra 5K on buying a Cooler Master cabinet and SMPS. But still, the fan is so irritatingly noisy. I cant read or browse since it makes so much noise. And that too now that its summer, the PC feels like its gonna blow up any moment. Observe that you wont have as much noise betweenSep -Dec. Wait! there is more, the UPS (APC 600) gives out in lesser than a min trying to support this monster.

I firstly have to praise Flipkart team for the fast delivery and superb packaging.This processor seems to be a value for money product.Nice performance at its price.

CON: Beware this processor's stock fan is very noisy(mini jet engine). Hope this is just in my case but I have seen a lot of complaints about its noise on the net.
