Hello guys, I ve got this processor, although didn't buy it from here... The processor is a really gr8 performer and also can be unlocked to 6 cores but there is a small requirement. You must have a motherboard with Advanced Clock Calibration.. all the motherboards with AMD 700 chipset series will do...So you can't buy a new motherboard and unlock its 2 remaining core... Also if you are thinking to buy it then you would wanna buy a aftermarket cooler... and more preferably a closed loop water cooling like the corsair H60 or H80....
Pros:-
1) Bang for Bucks
2) Easy Over Clocking (just get a aftermarket cooler)
3) Can be unlocked to 6 cores.. but u need to have an AMD 700 series chipset motherboard..
Cons:-
1) Stock heat-sink fan is really nt gud... temp at idle is 30c and while gaming = 35c
And FYI its far better then FX 4100 ..
Peace out...
+ Bang for your bucks
+ a must have if you are still using am3 motherboard
+ great TDP of just 95w means more head room if you want to overclock
+ suitable upgrade over phenom 5xx series and 2xx series
+ beats i5 650 in 3d mark vantage 11 (3570 amd as to 3400 intel) that says something
+ thuban design (zosma) turbo included and more effective utilization of cores
+ don't buy it for the sake of extra core unlock idea. its a good deal in itself
+ almost no bottlenecks while gaming
- 9xx series users don't buy it not much performance gain if your going to run in stock speeds
- If you want a 6core cpu look elsewhere. don't take chances, its less than 50%.
- still on the 45nm architecture so a little more heat similar to 9xx series
My AMD Phenom II X4 690T was delayed for 12 days ! ( Flipkart took 13 days, and I had a bad time with flipkart for their service, hummmm the problem is solved by now as I've got my processor ).
To come to the point of view, this CPU is worth trying !
This is my third quad processor ( first two were Intel Q6600 & Q8200 respectively ). You will get more room for overclocking for this power hungry processor, provided you use an aftermarket CPU cooler.
Good processor indeed !
(-1 point for the stock heat sink and fan )
This is an excellent processor for someone looking to upgrade
Pros
1. Overclocks well
2. Runs much cooler than 955
3. Unclockable to 5/6 core (if u r lucky)
Cons
1. Stock HSF isn't so good for overclocking
As a side note. I had problems with the 1st processor i recieved. It was replaced within 5days by Flipkart.
Excellent after sales support from Flipkart!!!
This is a great chip...its great for overclocking n unlocking ability (unlocking is a gambe whichi I must say)
this is an overclocker's delight, consumes so low voltage, runs cooler than other phenoms (deneb).
I'm using this chip & my chip oc to 4ghz @ only 1.3875v LLC set at ultra,I'm using Asus M5a97 pro with it & I us CM hyper 212+ to cool it.
Its running stable at 4ghz.
