fx 8350 destroys the 1090t

got this chip on 26 nov from here(mumbai) for a much cheaper rate........
pairing it with asrock 970 xtreme 4 mobo and 16gb gskill ddr3 and zotac 650ti 2GB.

i had a phenom II 1090t which is now being used as a server ....

i mostly use linux (ubuntu, fedora, debian) with kernel 3.6..........for compilations and python parallel programming(multi-threaded) .......and this chip beats the 2600k my colleague has....and my older 1090t by a huge margin.

i dont game much just tried borderlands 2, trine 2 and BF3 and this thing hammers the 1090t.........upto 16fps higher on average....

tried overclocking with h80......

5ghz ......@1.475 with 6 cores enabled
4.5ghz.......@1.400 with 4 cores....................till now

heat is negligent since my cooler is an overkill for this chip...

Running 8 virtual machines simultaneously with only 6 cores currently....vmware workstation 9..

An extremely powerful chip that has the 2600k and even the 3770k for lunch....and YES its beats the 3570k ivy....

check toms hardware for benches of this chip and you will discover it beats even the previous gen i7 970 in some apps .......i7 970 is a 6 core ...with 12 threads(hyperthreaded) chip.

On yes i forgot!!! .......my ram in bios(p2.20) shows freq scaling upto 2400mhz with this chip!!........good one ASROCK!!

Dont retard yourself just buy this chip from Flipkart if you stay far away.....ofcourse if you already have AM3+ mobo ......or are planning to upgrade...

Dont listen to the crappy reviews .......well there aren't any for this chip .......google search it ..........you will discover --- its a better chip and better architecture than intel's own 32nm manufacturing process......much more refined .....all thanks to AMD breathing down on GLOFo's material science's department.

NICK D'SOUZA - Somebody's STEALING Electricity!

First of all, most probably your neighbours are stealing power from you, LOL. Rs6000 bill from an AMD system; are you retarded?!!

Let me break it down for you. Even with your ENTIRE system hardware, at FULL load, there is NO way this is possible.

Now just FYI, incase you didn't pass high school, Power consumption is meaured in Watts, Symbol 'W'.
Electricity bill units, are measured in KWh, which is equal to using 1000W for an hour.

Now, AMD CPU=125W, HD6950=200w, All HDD+SSD=50W, Motherboard=50W, Fans=20W
Monitors (are required for Intel&Nvidia systems ALSO)= 25*5=125W
Total = 445+125W= 570W =0.57KW

Now in a day, you sleep for 8hrs, and bath, pee, eat & s**t for 2 hrs ATLEAST. GAMING hours =14 hrs daily.
BTW, this is really none of my business, but dude, GO GET A LIFE!!! I can only wonder how poor a social life you must be having :D

Back to calculations, and Daily KWh usage = 0.57x14 =7.98 KWh units
One month = 8 x30 =240 Units.

So, even assuming a high electricity cost of Rs12 per unit,
Monthly bill for ENTIRE system =12*240 =Rs 2,880/-

IN REALITY? How much JUST FOR AMD?
==================================

In those days, Intel 2500k, and equivalent Geforce 560Ti GF110, consumed = 95W+210W =305W
Your AMD CPU+GPU Power consumption= 125W+200W = 325W.

Difference per hour = 20W= 0.02KW
Cost difference per month= 0.02x14x30x12= Rs.101 at MAX !!!

.
What about NORMAL AMD PEOPLE, who play for ~4 hours a day, on medium config rigs? And who actually pay a realistic Rs 9 per unit?
Only around 20 rupees extra a month!!! But that is automatically offset by the relatively cheaper prices of AMD hardware.
So in the end, whether AMD or Nvidia/Intel, both systems will cost the same in the long run!

I'd like to end this with a sincere and humble request to you, to stop spreading Bull$hit, and go find out who is stealing your electricity!!

Best of Luck,
$hawn Noronha

What the Bulldozer should have been

So the new 8350 is based on the piledriver architecture but it still employs the same module system. So it is indeed not a true 8 core but rather a quad with AMD's own version of hyperthreading.

The Piledriver 8350 offers about a ~15% performance boost when compared to the bulldozer 8150. Of this 7% comes from the IPC improvements and the remaining from the higher clock speed(in this case 400mhz).

It does not beat the 3570k at most tasks but is a much better chip than the bulldozer ever was.

Bottomline: A decent upgrade for those who have socket AM3+ motherboards and want to upgrade from something like a FX4100.

@Flipkart - I expect to see the other variants soon( 8320,6300,4300 etc.).

Have a look at the benchmarks before buying.

As a side note its good to see processors now hitting 4.0ghz at stock. AMD should work on power consumption to enable even higher clock speeds.

Also those with Phenom II x4s and x6s do not upgrade yet. Wait for steamroller.

Beast of a processor

This processor is incredibly powerful for multithreaded tasks . though per core performance is lesser to that of Intel processors, it surely destroys their pride in the multi core performance. This processor is wrongly compared with the Intel flagship processors. people who do so are dolts who misjudge it's category, it might be AMD's flagship but tends to fall in the same category as the top of the line core i5s. here competing with the core i5s it's surely an easy winner in majorly every aspect. considering the price point it can not be compared to current generation core i7s but it does easily defeat core i7 920 hailing from 1st generation. i have my older machine with core i7 920 setup on Asus Rampage II mobo. my newer machine has this FX8350 setup on Asrock 990FX Extreme4 mobo. for me AMD is a clear winner here. But the cons mentioned against this proc in online forums aren't altogether wrong either. i have faced certain BSODs, machine freezes, boot failures on my newer machine, though it's lil over a week old. the heatsink that comes along with this processor is extremely loud, it sounds more like the turbo jets of an aeroplane. sometimes the noise is audible even in my living room from the pc running in my bedroom. i had to lower the clock speed to 3.6 ghz so as to make the heatsink behave socially. other issue (though nothing went wrong) that i faced was that the HT link was running at much higher a frequency than NB. i had learned on several online forums that NB should never be lower than HT link. so when i encountered certain BSODs & system freezes, i lowered the HT link to 2200 Mhz & upped the NB to 2400 MHz. since then i haven't encountered any BSODs anymore. i am not sure whether these BSODs had anything to do with this NB-HT relation but my machine is running more stably since then. all in all it's a powerful processor, given that it's coupled with an equally feature rich & resourceful mobo. My present setup is
AMD FX 8350 @ 3.6GHz
ASrock 990FX Extreme4
G.Skill 1333 4x4GB
2 AMD HD6870 1GB crossfired
OCZ Agility 3rd gen 120GB SSD
Windows Ultimate x64

All put together inside CM Centurion chasis with CM 750 watt PSU.
Suggestions or corrections regarding my experience with this processor are most welcome & will prove helpful to me. Thanx in advance.

For Gaming Go For It

I did some research on it (Of course in internet not in Lab). And I found that If u want to play games then its best CPU and cheapest. It gives equal performance to Intel i7 3770k Yes it is "K" in gaming. But If you try to compare in Rendering processing and some other kind of graphic related work on this processor then its defeated by i7 3770K almost 20% .Means i7 3770K take 20% less time than FX 8350. But the price of i7 3770K is around 19000 whereas FX 8350 is around 12000. The Difference of 7000 means in gaming. You can invest these money to buy some decent graphic card or bigger sound system or RAM or MOBO etc. I give you a site which prove my words.
