  • Description

Two young pigs rebel against their human master in an attempt to bring order to their farm in George Orwell’s classic satire, Animal Farm.

    Summary of the Book

Napoleon and Snowball have but one wish. They want to oust their evil ruler, the farmer and his family, and gain control over the farm. To that end, they lead a chaotic battle, managing to win. They soon declare that all are equal on the farm, and that four legs are better than two legs. However, their ideals soon change as they set up their own government, a hackneyed version of communist ideals. As the days pass, they begin to change, slowly adapting the human lifestyle. However, they claim that they are still unbiased. All animals are equal, they claim. They do not pause before adding that some animals are just more equal than others.

    About George Orwell

Eric Arthur Blair, better known as George Orwell, was an English writer born in Burma. He is best remembered for his essays, his diaries, his novels, including 1984 and Down and Out in Paris and London.

Orwell is considered to be a pioneering novelist and thinker, responsible for the rise of the dystopian literature genre. It is, therefore, no small achievement that the word Orwellian has become a synonym for totalitarian regimes and their ideals.

    Old yet contemporary!

The story of Animal Farm was written by George Orwell sometime ago, 1945 to be exact, whereas this story still finds its match in contemporary settings. That's the brilliance of George!!

How his pack of animals can be equated with real life scenarios and yet they are so convincing.

Fully empathise with the Character of Boxer Horse, "I will work harder" and "Napoleon is always right" despite the corruption.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this marvellous piece of literature. A must read!

    Super!

Nice print. Nice cover. Best quality book. Now coming to the book it is a satire on the Russian Revolution of 1917 and its purely George Orwell's opinion. You need to have a basic idea of the Russian rev. before you start reading the book. P.S. Its a novella. Its a good read please read it.

    Brilliant

The book is a satirical fable reflecting events occured during Russian revolution of 1917 & stalinist era of social union.

The plot begins with the story of oppression of animals living on a farm run by Mr. Jones. The animals will revolt against their master violently and decide to run the farm themselves following 'Animism'! In course of time, the pigs themselves become corrupted by power to such an extent that you can't distinguish 'Pig from man, man from pig'.

This is one of the fines...

All books are equal but some books are more equal than others!

I am spellbound by Animal Farm and my lexicon doesnt seem to have the exact good adjective by which I want to describe the book.
The book is apt, even today.
George Orwell is a master of storytelling and one must experience this book at least once in their life.

P.S. - I am already reading the book for the fourth time.

Also, the book quality is very good, kudos to Flipkart!

    MUST READ !!

This book is a must read for anyone who wishes to understand the political system of his'/her's respective country especially democracy. Through the use of animals the author George Orwell, efficiently displays the corrupting influence of power. This book I believe helps the reader to gain a bird's eye view of the scenario of politics that prevails in his'/her's political system.
It is a very interesting and amazing read for the readers. So go for it.
