Wow! This album is a testament to the fact that Slash can carry anything on the music that he writes. Each song in the album has a killer main riff, an operatic solo and the perfect use of the high flying vocals of Myles Kennedy, who is a gift to rock and roll! Thank God he teamed up with Slash!! Each song has a super killer main riff, which is typical of Slash.
One can hear Slash's signature Les Paul sound in almost all the songs. Although all the songs are awesome, the ones that stand out are "Standing in the Sun" (for its awesome main riff and groove), "No more heroes" (for the cool slow main riff), "Far and Away" (for an extremely soulful blues jam by Slash), "Not for me" (for the melancholy) and "Halo" (for the sheer energy of rock and roll!). But the super star song of this album is, without a doubt, "Anastasia"!! What a song! The main riff is addictive, the whole song has a cool flow, and Slash shreds like crazy towards the end. The solo has slow bluesy elements as well as some fast parts which mingle with each other perfectly. In fact even if this song had just Slash playing his part, it would still be kick ass!
All in all, this album explains why Slash is considered one of the Gods of rock n' roll.
I am desperately waiting for his next album, and for his concert in India! \m/
Rock n' F'n Roll! \m/
This album has surely made me tap my feet and bang my head. The guitar solo's and Kennedy's vocals are exceptional. It's a well put album. A must listen. For all slash fans, a must buy. Myles Kennedy is amazing.
