Swedenborg, a noted Swedish scientist, philosopher and theologian, best known for his later writings, in which he presents ideas both Christian and ecumenical, for a new spiritual era or new church to be known as the New Jerusalem. The Arcana Coelestia is Swedenborg's crowning achievement. In Arcana Coelestia Swedenborg first introduces the concept of correspondences-a living, spiritual meaning within Scripture. He then proceeds to offer a verse by verse spiritual interpretation of the books of Genesis and Exodus.
