Arjuna: Saga of a Pandava Warrior-Prince (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.144

Arjuna: Saga Of A Pandava Warrior-Prince is about Arjuna, his life, achievements, challenges and thoughts and how his decisions affect the fate of the characters in the Mahabharata.

Summary Of The Book

Arjuna, the warrior prince, was born to a life of adventure, sacrifice, and betrayal. He wasn’t just the Pandava prince, his very existence marked out a path that held the epic of the Mahabharata together in timeless precision.

The story is ultimately a biopic of a god in a human garb and therefore inspires its wealth from that of life itself. His weaknesses, ambitions, and the deepest chambers of his thoughts are all explored in detail. For all those readers hoping to break through the multiple narratives that are hidden in the sweeping epic of the Mahabharata, Arjuna: Saga Of A Pandava Warrior-Prince works as a perfect opening to intimate readers into the world the prince was born into.

This copious work borne through the meticulous use of research is an eye opener in terms of Arjuna’s motivations and links together parts of the epic, some more known and others lost in a murky tide. His relationship with his brother Yudhisthira and the comfort he found in Lord Krishna is all explicated here.

The untimely death and the events that lead to the end of one of India’s beloved idols, the love of a serpent princess, and him becoming a eunuch is all clarified in this novel.

Arjuna: Saga Of A Pandava Warrior-Prince is both a meditative study of a hero as well as an exploration of the epic itself.

A heady brew.

A mesmerizing tale, told at breakneck pace. The Author brings to life all the characters, even the minor ones, in such vivid colour that one feels that we are actually watching these incidents unfold before your own eyes. Arjuna is shown as a warrior with all his strengths and weaknesses with no attempt to hide his flaws such as arrogance. The things done against 'dharma' by the Pandavas is not spared. Written with panache, a must read novel for all, from the prologue to the very end."

Excellent, Realistic portrayal of the kurus clan with all its pluses and more important it's minuses

Arjuna, the legendary character is brought to life in a vivid and endearing way. The epic Mahabharata is brought to life with contemporary style of writing. I personally love thrillers. And I have read all different versions of Mahabharata before. But the narrative held me engrossed throughout without letting me catch my breath, something which I thought only a thriller could do, shame on me.
Coming back to the book, the tale which is normally shown as good vs evil has many layers interwoven and I applaud the author on her research. Inspite of being an avid reader of the great epic I found...

Coming back to the book, the tale which is normally shown as good vs evil has many layers interwoven and I applaud the author on her research. Inspite of being an avid reader of the great epic I found new details on each character And incidents here. The harsh reality of war and the camaraderie between the brothers and the insane polygamy angle are all touched upon with a fresh look. Am already on my second read and I would advise book lovers to grab a copy ASAP.

A splendid effort for those who love Mahabharata

I thought this book would just be another one featuring Arjuna as another common man and bought this book along with no/least expectations after having read Shiva Trilogy by Amish and Asura - Tale of the Vanquished. I have grown up studying the Mahabharata. When I started to read this book, I could literally visualize many scenes from the legendary Mahabharata serial. This indeed is a very well researched piece of book, and I am sure that even if one knows a lot about the Hindu mythology, he would surely get to know at least something new. The author has weaved all implying incidents in a clean manner. I had quite many doubts on various incidents in Mahabharata. The author has done a splendid job in clarifying those doubts of people like me by mentioning almost everything about Arjuna. The book covers every key events of life of not only Arjuna but also of the characters who had influenced his life. If you want to study Arjuna, or lets say Mahabharata in a new and refreshing manner, this book is a must buy. Though not famous as of now, this book will go a long way since it presents Arjuna more or less like a character he would have been and author has simply not stressed on making Arjuna a normal human being and thereby writing story of his life in a totally imaginary style. If you are really interested in real stories and not in imaginary charaters, I would any day prefer this book to Asura -Tale of the Vanquished.

Holds your attention from the first page - a very good read!

Was skeptical when I saw the details of the different character's who will be part of the book but the author did an amazing job of introducing the characters and weaving them into the story. Felt like I knew all of them for a very long time.
Loved the book and never thought Mahabharata could be told in such an interesting way. Liked the unique narration where each character's origin and end is told without interrupting the flow of the story.
Looking forward to the next book.

grab a copy if u can....wont be dissapointd

mahabharata as an epic is beyond comparison with anything else.the grand epic brings to life every emotion known to mankind.
there are so many characters tied in the knot together each born for a specific purpose .each character completely different to one another.
when i picked the book i was looking forward as to what the author has to add to the story interpreted many times before
the author chose to acknowledge ved vyasa in the beginning , paying respect to the greatest storyteller ever born and she has been true to her word.

the author chose to acknowledge ved vyasa in the beginning , paying respect to the greatest storyteller ever born and she has been true to her word.

so why read the story you already knew??well it isnt .the author really surprised me by her presentation.

right from the start i was impressed when she gave a 4 page casting of characters which i only associated with movies.

the pace at which she unfolds the story is what stands out the most.at no point did i feel the urge to skip a few pages even though i knew the story.
she presents her chief character:arjuna as he is- warrior the world has never seen...admirer of beauty like no one..a man consumed by ego at most times even though he knew his destiny..and a father who would set aside his dharma to revenge his son

though i would have loved to have read few more pages on the bhagvad geeta incident and sanjaya's description of war to dhritarashtra..still it leaves a mark

in her first book itself ,the author has raised the bar for her...look forword to reading more of her works

ARJUNA BY ANUJA CHANDRAMOULI

The most boring book I have read so far in my 40 years of reading some of the best books.
No writing skill,no art of story telling.A plain translation of Mahabharata the epic would have been a better read.
I kicked myself that I bought this book by breaking my own rule "Never buy a book onl...

It is just Mahabharata retold

Though the book is supposed to be based on Arjuna's life and thinking, it just narrates the story of Mahabharata. There was no fun reading it. You can go for it if you want to know about Mahabharata...

I had expected Arjuna's point of view and narration which was missing.

I think its a good ama...

'Mahabharata Retold' is more like it

This was just 'Mahabharata Retold'. There were but mere parts in Arjuna's point of view, and just ending the story with his POV DOES NOT make it his story! I was expecting something of the range of 'Second Turn' by MT Vasudevan Nair, a rendition of Mahabharata in Bheema's POV, a true timeless cla... (View complete review)
