Description

Kurukshetra is the third book in Krishna Udayasankar’s epic mythological fantasy series, the Aryavarta Chronicles.

Summary of the Book

The Aryavarta empire stands on the brink of destruction. Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasa and the Secret Keeper of the Firewrights can do no more than watch as their kin destroy one another on the fields of Kurukshetra. Those very humans who once protected the land have become savages, killing and maiming their own people with abandon. Right in the midst of the torrent stands Govinda Shauri. He has been driven to madness by betrayal and failure, and he has become the greatest enemy that Aryavarta must face. In this climactic end to the series, he will stop at nothing to destroy everything he loves and unleash his might in the belief that humanity will once again rise from the ashes.

A read to remember...

It was by accident that I picked Govinda to read and got hooked to it instantly. Kaurava and Kurukshetra were only natural progression. There are a lot of books written about Mahabharata, but the idea presented in the book keeping the important incidents in the story intact is what drew me to the book. I was always of the opinion that the legends of the past were ordinary people who achieved extra ordinary feat due to what they believed in. The concept presented by Krishna Udayashankar here i...

A history of ordinary men & women, in & around current India.

A Must read.
A story told from a very different view.
* There are no gods or super natural powers involved - but only science and nature.
* There are no black & white people i.e. no extremely good & extremely evil people as portrayed in Vyasa's mhabaratha.
* Every one acts in their own perception of good & evil.
* The victor writes the history - Vyasa's history.
* The story telling is very unique and i have to commend the author for the flow and language used.
* Surely, very wel...

Interesting

HIGHS

The Cover: Eye- catching. The first thing that caught my eyes as soon as I received the book is the sentence at the top: The epic as it was never told before.

This book has justified the same.

Author’s note: A beautiful introduction to the book, something one must read without fail before embarking on the journey called ‘Kurukshetra’.

The hierarchy chart and the cast of characters: A wonderful guide necessary to understand quite a lot about the characters and groups that find a ment...

Awesome!

Aryavarta is at the brink of war and the nobles of the realm are forced to choose. The choice is not between Syyodhan and Dharma Yudhishtir but rather between an acquiescence to status quo and a commitment to re-creation. Govinda Shauri will sacrifice everything and everyone to give humanity a fresh start without war. But there are forces at work wanting that cataclysm, thwarting his attempts at sacrifice and he faces opposition from quarters he never expected. When events spin out of his con...

Complete Waste!

Absolutely waste of money and time.
story not at all in congruence with the original.
Usage of uncommon/tough English words (at so many places) make it all the more PUT-DOWN-able.

wasted my money on this trilogy.

Only time waste!

Nothing matches with original epic Mahabharat! How can the author change the characterization in such way? I would like to show some of them, which are totally different from the original:

1) Epic Yudhishthir was trapped & cheated by kauravas in dice hall, but this Dharma is a ‘compulsive gambler’ who is asked to stop by Syoddhan but he himself desires to play. In epic, Dhritarashtra called them when they were on the way to Indraprashtha, but in this book, Dharma wanted to play again even af...

Good Book

Good read .. though this book is a little weak in comparison to other two earlier books in series. But was worth the wait to close the Aryavarta Chronicles.
