Passion, rivalry and genuine sports spirit; it all comes alive with The Ashes. One of the most anticipated events of the year can now be played throughout the year on your computer with Ashes: Cricket 2009. Even if the series is played between England and Australia, Ashes has a rich and amazing history that no other series in cricket does.
Cricket 2009 is for anyone who likes cricket. Built for casual as well as hard-core gamers, Ashes packs in a lot of interesting features. The sports simulator cum cricket video game is available for the PC platform and has a 3+ rating from PEGI, making it entertaining for the entire family.
Synopsis and Features
Cricket 2009 is about celebrating the glory of cricket. The game has plenty of game modes and 12 teams from different countries that you can select to play with. Developed by Transmission Games and published by Codemasters, Ashes promises hours of exciting cricketing action.
The minimum requirements for the game to run easily on your computer are Windows XP or Vista, 2 Ghz Pentium processor, 2.5 GB hard disk space, 1 GB RAM, GeForce 6800 or Radeon X1600 graphics card. The game’s single player mode lets you select any team of your choice and play the game for a win. Cricket 2009 has 6 different game modes such as The Ashes, Test Cricket, One-Day International, Twenty20, Legends Mode and Customisation.
Each mode is interesting as it provides something different that the other. For passionate lovers of cricket who like enjoying long sessions of gaming can opt for the Test matches. One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 follow the same rules as the game and are much for exciting and fun to play. The customization lets you customize editing tools, rename players, reassign skill points, and adjust visual sliders for players and much more.
The game has a competitive AI. This helps you in improving your skills and abilities every time you play the game. The game has some interesting features such as Hawk-Eye prediction that resemble real on-TV predictions, making the game more involving. The game has intuitive bowling and batting mechanisms that make it more interactive. The interesting thing about batting is that you have to be quick on your fingers as timing matters a lot. One miss and you might be looking at the broken stumps staring out you.
The game also has a simulate function that allows you to skip parts of an on-going match. If you like a particular aspect of a game like only bowling or only batting, you can select this option. This will allow you to skip over an entire innings, if required, letting you do what you love.
Featuring 18 cricket stadiums from all over the world, you can play the game from the famous Eden Gardens in India, Queen's Park Oval in West Indies to Melboune Cricket Ground in Australia. The graphics are pleasing and each stadium resembles a real stadium, giving the game a vivid and brilliant atmosphere.
Online Features
If you want to rival against others and show off your cricketing skills you can do it with Ashes: Cricket 2009. The game supports friendly and ranked matches that you can play online. This is surely the best cricket game in in history!!
and of course flipkart service is excellent
loved this game. It's graphics rock. Take your wii remote and enter the world of virtual cricket you can help india to win the ashes in the new world called virtual world help india win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game is not perfect, yet I have given it the full 5 stars. Why? Because of two reasons:
1. It is the best Cricket game out there.
2. The low price.
Pros:
-Good graphics.
-Immersive game-play. Batting is just addictive and bowling is also decent, although I admit that I never like bowling in video games..
-As the cricketers controlled by you make runs, bowl well or take catches, they earn extra skill points which you can spend to improve them.
-Even with keyboard controls, you can hit shots in any direction! Of course, if the direction is not suitable to the shot, you risk losing your wicket.
Cons:
-The AI will not give much of a challenge even at Hard difficulty.
-No of wickets taken by catches is much more than bowled, lbw or caughr behind/by slips.
-Only Australian and English squads have the original player names, others have fictitious ones. Although you can edit this easily.
As the title says, in my opinion, this is the best cricket game out there.
Codemasters really did a hell of a job making this one, its graphics are really good for a cricket game (i played it on a Windows 7 HP laptop), and while the batting animations are quite satisfying, the bowling actions really stick out from the otherwise-neat design of this game. It features fully licensed teams of England and Australia with strikingly realistic faces(you'll have to edit the other names, if you are one for realism like me). Whatever little messed up bits exist in the game, they can all be clearly shadowed with AWESOME hawk-eye and equally brilliant professional voice-talent.
I never was one for sports games, but ever since I started on this one, I've abandoned every FPS and every RPG on my laptop.
So, cricket fan-or not just do yourself a favour, guys and atleast check this one out.......
the game is no doubt the best cricket game till now, but difference in the difficulty levels is too much, in easy, its too easy and in normal its like real, in hard its like the real international games. the easy level should have been more difficult. again, when the players run they look really awkward, and every player is almost a clone of Ponting, including a bald Harbhajan! the computerised fielding is crap, misses almost every ball sometimes and becomes Jonty otherwise. umpires make a lot of mistakes, mostly against you. however the batting action and gameplay is great.
however, if you cant do without a cricket game, its the only real alternate in the market.
