ASUS RT-N10+ EZ N Wireless Router

This was the other router that I mentioned in my ASUS RT-N12 LX review. I chose this router as I wanted to test the features that were advertised both here on flipkart and on the ASUS website, otherwise I would have gone for the RT-N10 LX

Here's my take on it.

PROS
1) Easy to set up.
2) 3dBi Antenna blows the range of the dual antennas of ASUS RT-N12 out of the water. this router, placed at a sufficient distance from it, still encroaches and betters the signal of the other one.
3) The black pattern in the front, the Green LED's make this router a looker
4) Fairly priced.
5) Option to use as a Wi-Fi relay/repeater works well.
6) Option to set different speeds for guest users and administrator is a boon for people who don't have the know how to flash DD-WRT.

CON
1) The lack of detachable antennas leave NO room for getting higher db or High Gain antennas.
2) 150mbps data transfer speed only. Not a problem for the internet as my broadband bandwidth is 4 Mbps download but maybe slows down multiple LAN connections.

Overall
Another great product from ASUS which really shows good work has been done in bringing in a fantastic and greatly competitive router range in the market.

I bought this router from flipkart. I got problem with the router today. The router keep on throwing the following error.
"You have set the wrong dynamic or static IP address for your RT-N10+"
Here is the way i fixed it.
To fix the issue you have to understand how your ISPs' DHCP works.
Whenever you connect the ISPs' RJ45 cable to your laptop or this router's WAN port the ISPs' DHCP server will take your MAC Address and map with the IP Address.
--Consider the following scenario.--
1)First connect the ISP cable to laptop
2)Then disconnect the ISP cable from laptop and connect to to Routers RJ45 WAN port.
By doing in the above method , ISP's DHCP server map the IP Address with your laptops mac address. when you reconnect ISP cable to router
WAN port the ISP DHCP wont provide the Dynamic ip to routers WAN port since the IP address is already mapped with your laptop's MAC address.Then you will get the following error.
"You have set the wrong dynamic or static IP address for your RT-N10+"

To get rid of this error 2 ways are there.
1) During the Quick wizard setup select dynamic IP --> Click Clone Mac Address(This will copy your laptop's MAC address and write it to WAN's RJ45 port .
2)Shutdown the router for overnight and in the morning when you power on directly connect the ISPs' cable to Router's RJ45 WAN port.

I bought this Router for my two-storied house and it is suited for my needs, which involve around connecting the router to a desktop by LAN and a couple of Laptops.

I have owned a Dlink Router and Belkin Router in the past, and I am convinced that i made a better purchase by opting for this Router.

PROS:
Good looks , you will not want to hide it away.
The LEDs are least obtrusive, i.e. just bright enough.(Too bright blinking LEDs can be an eye sore)
Easy Setup - (The QIS setup may not work, but its still easy and can be set up without using CD or manual for an average computer user)
Interface - This one takes the cake, it caters to both a novice and advanced user and has balanced it very well.

CONS:
It's been only a day since i got it, so not in position to comment. However, couple of pictures posted in the website make it look ultra thin which it is not. (still would not be an issue)

PS: This product was delivered in less than 24 hrs to me ! Brilliant :D

Received it withing 40 hrs with flipkart in a very safe and quality packaging
About the router:
Pros:
powerful 5 dBi antenna compared to 3 dBi on others
Awesome design
Soft and sober LEDs doesn't irritate you
Fast and easy to use and setup (320 MHz CPU with 32MB RAM)
Build quality and reliability of Asus

Cons:
Un-detachable antenna (but since its powerful enough, u won't need a new one)

My neighbors share my WiFi and they get handsome signal even though their are at least 4-5 walls and 2 floors in between, I can also increase the antenna gain to 255mw from my current 71mw
I have flashed it with officially supported dd-wrt firmware (even the default asus firmware is very easy to use and comes with multiple SSIDs support and various features listed above )
No signal drops no problems. works perfect with my MTNL 1 Mbps

I was a tiny bit worried when I saw diagram showing connection with Modem, my BB doesn't need modem, all I have is a cat5 fiber optic cable which comes directly to my bed room from the provider's switch box in the premises but setting it up was a breeze I just connected my fiber optic cable to WAN port and boom it auto-configured connection itself and ready to go. You have tons of options to play with the web interface.

Love its ergonomic design pattern on its body and coverage was awesome. I could even get one bar on my phone after stepping out from the premises. Top notch coverage. Flipkart's packaging of item was excellent. Overall, well I'm hugely satisfied for money I paid for.
