Some people feel that athletes are good role models because in achieving their athletic success they exhibit positive qualities such as courage and persistence in achieving their goals. Others argue that athletes make poor role models because what we see of them is a mere media creation. Furthermore, athletes often engage in bad, or even illegal, activities that their fans should not try to emulate. In this anthology, the authors debate the positive and negatives aspects of athletes as role models.
