The Atonement

Ray Barnes is a laid-back, intellectual youth, who has read the classics, and wants to emulate Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. Forced in to a foreman job by his father, Ray must confront a primitive sex worshiper who refuses Ray's authority. Seeking away out and finding no satisfying manner in which to escape, Ray enters into confrontation with the man, and emasculates the primitive psychology. Torn with guilt and haunted by nightmares after imposing injury to the man, he transforms his already well-developed duty to serve society into a debt of honor. He struggles to become an adult, gain his soul-mate, and become the father of fine children, and at last to gain work that possesses meaning and pays his debt of honor.
