Belkin Basic Modem (N150) Router

As i read previous reviews regarding Belkin N150 Router Modem, that Configure it with BSNL is So Tough... But i will make this a really simple steps for you future guys to configure it in so simple way...

Connect all the wires and run CD, run that setup in CD
click on Next Next And finish with the setup of supplied CD

Belkin Setup pops up on your screen
Step1: Click on advance, and now select 2nd option ie. i guess Network and bla bl..

OR
(Alternate of Step1)
Step1: Go to 192.168.2.1 in Internet Explorer
you reached in Router Setup page

Step2: Click on Restore Factory Setting Under utilities and press OK OK and wait for 60 Seconds (May it ask for password Default = Leave Blank you just click Submit)

Step3: Now click on Connection type (May it ask for password Default = Leave Blank you just click Submit)

Step4: Select PPPoE>>NEXT (Assuming you have username and password from BSNL)

Step5:
Username >: abc_defxxxx
Password : XXXXXXXX
Retype Password: XXXXXXXX
Service Name (Optional): BSNL
IP assigned by ISP : YES
VPI/VCI : 0/35
Encapsulation: LLC
MTU (500-1500) >: 1400

Step6: Apply Changes
Its Done wait for 30 sec, and your router will Blink RED light and static with green....

Isn't it so simple.. ( I know i made more steps its just work of hardly 5 Steps)

2.CD install
3.192.168.2.1
4.factory reset
5.PPPoE Connection Type

Now please don't say its Difficult to configure this with BSNL...

I have been using this product for close to three months now. Very stable performance. However, configuring this model for BSNL Broadband is a pain. I had to contact multiple service personnel at BSNL and the store from where I bought the device to finally make this work.

A Google search with "configuring Belkin N150 on BSNL" will give you a clear picture. Buy this only if you consider yourself to possess above-average PC skills.

Would have been a 5/5 if not for the configuration hiccup.

I bought this router/modem combination from flipkart. delivery was done in 2 days flat. I already own a higher rated belkin router (no modem) and configuring that was a pain as i had to call belkin atleast 2-3 times to get it right.

dreading the same experience i still went for this product. i tried installing this on the mac and it took me less than 5 mins once i knew what i was doing or supposed to do. the inbuilt cd and drivers just work fine but the belkin setup is crap. instead of that wizard, one can just go to the page 192.168.2.1 and configure the router directly with whatever info is needed. please remember you need the bsnl/airtel username and password to be handy with you. for bsnl the username is generally first two chars of your name in the bill 80 phone number and password is password. all other vpi/vci values for common telephone providers are neatly documented as part of the package which is really useful. its sorted by country too which is a nice touch.

the product itself is great and lightweight (its a router what else to expect!?) and minimal buttons, etc. with some higher end routers, you can plug in printer or usb stick and share it on network (although i am wondering why someone wants to do that!)

my best experience with belkin - it simply works without fuss on my iMAC !!

A year since I bought the Belkin N150 modem+router, it still performs flawlessly.

Couple of points:
1. It has excellent range and all of my devices can access the wireless network throughout my house.
2. There is only one status light on the router - orange is bad, green is good. Sometimes, I wish there were more indicators to show when there are technical issues.
3. Keeps cool even when used 24x7 - zero downtime.
4. Sometimes refuses to connect to the internet when restarted. In case this happens, donot panic - just turn it off, wait 2 mins and then turn it back on. Works 95% of the times.
5. Multiple ethernet ports means I can run a hard line to equipment in my media console - the PS3 and Raspberry Pi and linked by RJ45 cables and work just fine.

In all, a modem+router that is not fussy and just works really well - worth the investment through and through. If you have some money to splurge go for one of the models to which you can plug in an USB device/printer - makes it almost future proof.

I needed to replace my modem only which came with my Reliance BB connection because it was causing connection drops. So after searching the web i zeroed in on this modem+router. So far i have tested the Wired connection, no problem with that. The Wi-Fi has been tested with my android device only, works well on that too and i get full signal or just one bar less on the device in my entire house (Area 800 Sq.ft). The setup gave me troubles but the Belkin customer care was good enough to get me connected. :)

P.S. If anyone wants to use this with Reliance BB and has trouble setting it up, just call the Belkin customer care and when they ask what type of connection you are using tell them it is a "Direct IP" and not "PPPoE" because that won't be able to connect. I did that mistake and told them that after seeing the PPPoE light on my older modem but the CC executive was smart enough to handle it.
