The Bells of Saint Mary's and Other Ventures in Verse Tio Carlos began writing poetry in high school, where he even won a poetry contest. But then, he took a long hiatus as Life intervened. Recently, however, he wandered into Mass at Saint Mary's Church in Eagle, Colorado. Here he experienced an epiphany that changed his life and inspired him to put his poetic flare to newfound use. The poems in this little treasure of a book reflect his musings on his personal faith as well as his unique interpretation of the core meaning of many of the Scriptures. Some poems, such as "Freedom," are full of exuberant playfulness. "High Horse" succinctly sums up the lesson of Luke 18: But one day that High Horse will throw you, And you'll be walking the rest of the way.
