Bharat Ek Khoj

I loved this serial in DD 1 when I was a kid. So, I was looking for this DVD pack for long and got it in flipkart.

DVD quality:
DVD quality is good enough and audio/video quality is clear. pleasant to watch even in this non premium version. Premium version DVD must be better but if you do not want to buy the premium version then I can assure you this normal version DVD is very good to watch. What's more, there is a book "Bharat Ek Khoj" in this pack along with 9 DVDs. Book's print is very good and of good quality. Love it.

Flipkart service:
I got the DVD set within 3 days of order, in Bangalore. When I checked one of the DVD was not working. I contacted flipkart customer care through this site only and got it replaced without any issue and got the new delivery yesterday. Checked and all DVDs are now working fine. Best part is the smoothness and professionalism with which customer care handles the issue. Also, you do not have to ship the defective item back. Flipkart delivered the new DVD pack and picked up the defective one. All in all very good service and one that makes me confident enough to buy using flipkart, online. Highly recommendable.

The Premium in the product title is completely justified. The video quality of the DVD is superb. The lighting and the rendition of the colors is fabulous. Thanks to Doordarshan and Flipkart for putting up such a rich and informative documentary on India's glorious history.

I remember of adding it to my shopping cart since long. Then suddenly it vanished for a long period. I have seen this on TV again and again. It is really excellent and all in my family seem to like it.
I purchased it in March 2011 after it became available again. The masters are reported to be lost in a studio fire which makes this set a collector's item.
The acting by Roshan Seth as J N and Om Puri, Salim Gause and others are just remarkable. We see the episodes randomly and enjoy it. The director Shyam Benegal has wonderfully re-captured history which really makes history comes to live. I have a copy of the original write up of JN but the film rendition far surpasses its inspiration.

I saw this series during my childhood on Doordarshan(DD). Later on i also read Discovery of India by Nehru and i liked the way he had written it, also the content was so rich something which has not been made into any historical textbooks which we had read in schools.

"Bharat Ek Khoj" was directed by Shyam Benegal who himself is well known, moreover the cast members are all noted people. No wonder this series is still talked about and is a must watch for all those students who do not like to read History the way it is taught in Schools.

This series is not readily available these days and one has to get this directly from DD office. So when i saw this up on Flipkart, i bought it.

Kudos to the producer and director, Shyam Benegal for producing such an excellent tv series on Indian History! And to flipkart for making it available to us.

The series is historically quite accurate and the dramatic presentation is quite engaging. Each episode is enjoyable to watch because of the artful combination of story, screenplay, direction and ofcourse acting. Pandit Nehru' s historical interpretations are an added bonus!

I really wish that these episodes are shown to students in schools while teaching history, because I always felt it difficult to learn history from just the textbooks- A visual aid like this, I believe, would be extremely helpful and also make Indian history really interesting.
