The heading really says it all.
This game is perhaps the only game made for consoles that targets the aviation fans who can tell their Fw-190s from their Bf-109s, their Spitfires from their Zeros and the Mustangs from their Typhoons.
Well the upside is that the environments are fantastically detailed and beautiful, the aircraft obviously are extremely detailed with accurate control surfaces and damage. The aerodynamics in the "simulation" [hard] mode is simply phenomenal for its accuracy and difficulty. The anti-aircraft gunfire, flak and other effects all transport you to the early 40s and put in you the middle of massive air battles with realistic opponents who use actual air combat maneuvering to get you in their sights.
Coming to the downside, the game is rather repetitive at times, a lot of "go there, do this and go there" kind of missions that keep cropping up but if you liked other historical flight sims like Mig Alley or IL-2 you should have no worries. The campaign mode is also not as involved as you would hope it to be, especially considering how exciting the time period was. The action can feel a bit too arcade at times and on the "arcade" mode the game becomes ridiculously easy to play and there is little challenge involved in either navigation or air combat. Also, the "simulation" mode requires a joystick to have any real control because it's literally impossible to control the aircraft within its operating parameters with the clumsy standard PS3 controller.
The world builder and the carrier landings on "simulation" mode offer the greatest potential for Player-vs-Player combat and the simple test of skill.
All in all, a game that would delight fight simulation enthusiasts and disappoint the more arcade HAWX and Ace Combat crowd.
It is a good flight combat game. Although initially i found it little difficult to handle the plane but subsequently the piloting of the plane came good. atmosphere in the game corresponds to the world war. mass level destruction. tutorial given at the beginning helps a lot. Combat is also lively. player can fire bombs and cause mass level destruction.good aerial combat game. Last not the least, flipkart rocks.
