Beware! Please think twice before buying this product. If anything goes wrong after installation, you will be left stranded in a desert. Virtually there is no contact support on its website nor ever an address to communicate. No toll free numbers nor any customer care numbers, not even chat clients. You are simply given an option to fill an online webform and it will issue a ticket ID.
My Ticket ID:201205271003621 raised on 27-05-12 is still pending and virtually nobody contacted me not I have been given the privillage to contact.

The Product had twice damaged my lan card and finally fed up with, I have installed Kaspersky 2012, and I am now had the peace of mind.

For few years now, Bitdefender has been one of the best security software. I recommend it over other best security software like Kaspersky because in fact it does not overload the system like the others.

This fact can be verified very easily by actually searching "Top 10 Security Software" and going through first 10 results or more. I'm sure you'll find Bitdefender to the top for few and at least in top 3 for rest.

To take this feat to the new level, in 2012 Bitdefender has added amazing new features like Autopilot and Sandbox. Parental control has been taken to the new height as well. Check video tutorials on the Bitdefender support site if you are more interested.

About Bitdefender - Great product and very effective in identifying viruses (till now!). I have been using it since August 2011. Bitdefender renewal gave me a discount, but Flipkart price was much lower for a new licence. I decided to write this review a few months after the purchase since I was surprised that some users are continuing to face problems with Bitdefender. I am sharing my experience on some issues, in case it helps others:

i) Free upgrade: Bitdefender has a great feature of free upgrade to the latest version, no matter what version you are using, as long as your licence is valid. So don’t pay more for buying the 2013 version if you are getting the 2012 (or earlier) version cheaper of the same product and have access to mid-speed internet (512 Kbps will do).

ii) Licence key: Bitdefender is now using a 7 digit alpha-numeric registration code. The code that came with my Flipkart product was much longer (I think this was the case with older versions), but it worked all the same for me. I see that some users have had problems in getting the code to work. In that case, please write to Bitdefender (through the Forum on their website – you have to create an account), and they will respond with a solution.

iii) Forum: There is a very active Bitdefender Forum, which has lots of useful information that other users share. It is also a good place to get help from Bitdefender. I was having some difficulty, and the response time was quite good.

iv) Installation: This seems to be a problem area for many users. I have had to install and uninstall Bitdefender quite a few times due to hardware problems with my computer, and I have found the best way to install (particularly if you don’t have a very fast internet connection) is to AVOID the auto installer (my CD had 2012, not 2013, version in any case). The auto installer is only about 2.32 MB but this downloads the full version during the installation process so you have to wait a really long time for the installation.

Instead, directly download the actual product that you want (be careful about the 32-bit or 64 bit version of Windows) separately Bitdefender Forum – (topic ID 35494 since HTML references are not allowed here) (these are big files, about 250 MB or more, so you could download it through some other computer, say your office, that has a fast connection). Then install it in your computer from the downloaded file, and say NO when prompted to check for latest updates during installation (if you say YES, it will download the full version from the internet again). At the time of registration, just type in the code that came in the Flipkart box CD. Later, when the installation is complete, the updated virus signature can be obtained from the internet (this takes some time on the first occasion!).

v) Previous programmes: Bitdefender is quite sensitive to remnants of other antivirus programmes that have been installed earlier and unistalled. On one occasion, I had to use a Registry Cleaner to remove a registry reference to Norton antivirus that I had uninstalled.

vi) Scan: Detection rate is good, so is the firewall. You can tweak the settings if browsing is taking time.

vii) Trial version: In case you are not sure if Bitdefender will work well in your computer, follow the installation process above, and when prompted for registration, opt for a free trial. If you like the trial, buy it from Flipkart, and type in the registration code.

Hi Guys,
Please think twice before buying this product.
1. It will give you a hard time during installation
2. My installation failed thrice and also it takes around 3 hours to download files.( i have a 2 mbps connection) I get download speed up to 200kbps. I don't understand what it downloads for 3 hours.
3. During my installation , at the end of installation it disconnects the internet itself and then says cannot download(how will it download when already disconnected). I reconnected and tried it but then it gives error that one file is missing. It happened twice and then i finally disconnected from the internet.
4. I installed this after disconnecting from the internet and then it got installed from the installation CD itself. I registered after the installation.
5. After the installation I am facing issues in reading image files and video files. My PC hangs while playing movie now.
6. I have an i7 processor with 8 GB RAM still i am facing issues with the speed.
7. The antivirus gives me error while updating also. If I click update button, out of 5 times it fails for at-least 4 times.
8. I had used bit defender earlier also and did not have any issues. But this version has given me a really hard time.

first i do not agree with the previous reviewers....i bought the product, delivery was very much on time....but i had a harrowing time in installing the product. it took 2 hrs and 13 minutes in downloading the installation files and that too in 3rd attempt(the download terminated 2 times) registering the product was also very difficult, the application refused to acknowledge the internet connection and showed the message the product will be registered after the internet connection is available even though the PC was connected to internet. i had to register it offilne by logging into the bitdefender site.
after installation it slowed the computer also.

i had installed it on pc running Windows vista business and windows XP SP3.

now i know why Norton sells its product at premium.
