There is no denial in the fact that BB phones have been selling as pieces of hot cakes due to the cult brand status of BB in india but the consumer has to understand the purpose of their buy. Most buyers buy due to so called easier communication due to the Blackberry Messenger which cost Rs. 300 without internet and Rs. 400 with internet in which the buyer limits his communication profile only to the blackberry users on the other hand an android user may download a popular messenger like "whatsapp" or "yahoo messenger" which could run on a monthly GPRS internet recharge of Rs 98 (2GB upload/download) in which the communication proflie is not only extended to Android user but also the users on PC, apple's iOS, Blackberry, etc. as these apps are availabe for all OSs. Morever the Application database for BB is very limited and most of the Apps are paid. The only reason why BB was so popular amongst the Corporates was because of the secured encrypted E-mail service previously offered BB which also has now been lost due to the govt. The web browsing experience is so much easier in cases of any android phones like Samsung Pop/ galaxy II which have been competitively priced under Rs 10k. So there is really no specific reason to opt for a blackberry apart from the qwerty keypad feature.
Hey frnds,
I bought this phone from Flipkart, got it in just 2 days.
Presently I am using it and the best feature of this phone is the voice quality. The push mail service is awesome.
The track pad is quite smooth , don't know about the other blackberry phones but like it. I got little pain in getting synched with my earlier phone but after some surfing I got it fixed by synching it using gmail account.
Didnt used the app world because of the shitty services of Airtel.
Sound Quality: The sound is good, much louder than all other phones I used till now.
Camera: its ok and does its job well.
Querty Keypad: yeah the Querty keyword helps a lot in messaging and using the BBM services to its fullest. Initially you get some problem as the keys are quite small but when u get use to it, you enjoy it.
BBM (black berry messenger): One of the best timepass on this phone apart from the poker game. You can share any pic and gossip very easily. It even shows if the other person has read you msg or yet not received it. So u can keep a check if he or she is ignoring you.
Alarm: Its not loud ...very loud.
Problems: You cant add a number directly from the call logs to an existing contact. You have to copy the number, go to the contacts and then edit the contact, AND then paste it. huh
I just migrated to this cult phone after getting bored from Nokia N72 which in all terms was excellent in terms of battery life, connectivity and applications. Infact there are lots of java as well as symbian support with that phone. Alas, the new phone is just hyped to what mercedes is to cars.
There are very little applications available, and most of them are paid ones. Unlike the phone suite which came with nokia, i could not use the BB desktop application to write memos , chats or sms. All i can do is back up and synchronize the data. There are no in built facebook, gmail or orkut support, but the plugin has to be downloaded. Again the GPRS can not be customized like the earlier one, but one has to rely on the BB services to be availed from the phone company at a premium.
The only things are the good looks, high security, fast processor and cult of its own and disappointment of spending a large money to buy and use this phone.
well though i havent bought BLACKBERRY CURVE 8520 from flip kart.... and i dont doubt flip kart's services... they are amazing.... but the phone .. i would recommend you not to buy blackberry...its been just six months and am facing lotta problems not only with the phone but also the service centre and their services....blackberry is no more a reliable brand... rather go for i phone...
i am using it since so long but really its not worth the BIG amount we pay for it...
it is a simple phone ... instead of BLACKBERYY 8529 NOKIA E63 is a better deal and muchh efficiant...
with time blackberry burve's battery goes... phone stops responding to wifi connections, blackberry messenger is a dumb users community.. as in we can use Free sms services rather than spending 500 per month just for the bbm messenger.....
cant find one good quality about it....
i would rate it -1 star outta 5 stars...
though here htere s no option for negative stars so have to give one star to it...
This phone is really very good. Even aside from the decent cost and the Blackberry name, it has everything a teen can need, and then some more. Even the battery backup is amazing, and the keys are a treat to type upon.
And while the Flipkart price is only around Rs 400 less than the one in official Blackberry stores, the free shipping thing is going to be a boon for those who don't have the time, inclination or resources to reach one. :-)
I had bought BB 8520 in May 2011. Usage generally involves heavy calls , messaging occasionally and frequent texting on BBM.
I know it can be disorienting to have extraordinary and terrible reviews slapped in your face one after the other. But it is al...
