Pour Your Heart Into It: How Starbucks Built A Company One Cup At A Time presents the success story of the Starbucks coffee chain and the underlying values that shaped its strong brand.

Summary Of The Book

The Starbucks phenomenon has been one of the top business achievements marking the close of the 20th century. It has revolutionized coffee culture in America, turning the brew from a mere beverage to a social experience. And it all began with an amazing idea and a far-reaching vision.

When Howard Schultz, one of the co-authors, was travelling through Italy, he was struck by the way in which coffee bars formed such an integral part of the country’s social fabric. In his heart, he knew America was also ready to embrace such a culture, and returned home to introduce America to the Starbucks experience, which provided a cafe-centred experience of having coffee.

Schultz writes about the culture that shaped Starbucks, a culture that placed equal value on the company’s employees and its profits, on creativity as well as growth. With its world-class product, brilliant marketing strategies, and focus on the human element, Starbucks has continued to carry forth its brand excellence well into the 21st century.

Pour Your Heart Into It: How Starbucks Built A Company One Cup At A Time was published in 1999 by Hyperion Books. It was co-written by Howard Schultz and Dori Jones Yang. It has received positive reviews for its lucid writing, inspirational quality, and riveting insight into the Starbucks phenomenon.

STARRY STARBUCKS COFFEE

I never expected any CEO to write a book about his company in such a lucid and flawless manner.
Howard Shultz left his high paying job at Xerox and joined Starbucks, opened El Giornale, took over Starbucks, sought venture capitalists in the market, opended stores outside Seattle and then all over US, brought in professionals into the business while at the same time retaining two very important core values, "Employees" and "The taste of Coffee".

Starbucks whole journey from humble beginings in a small Seattle Store to world leader in coffee is brought forth in this book....

Before I pen off let me add a word of caution....this book will start you itching to have a taste of Starbucks Coffee...but you have to wait till they open operations in India.

Coffee being my favourite drink....I can hardly wait for a sip of Starbucks.

Must read for those who want their own start ups.

An amazing account of the person who believed his vision of making coffee as delectable as possible. Howard Schultz beautifully narrates his story about his passion and his never ending commitment for customer satisfaction, team building, leadership, the joy of sharing, and helping the communities. It also breaks the myth about building brands in less time. Simply a great book, I am just waiting to have my cup of Frappuchino some time to come. Buy it and enjoy reading it.
