  • Description

Blood Red Sari is an all-women action thriller written by Ashok Banker. It vividly pictures the gloomy underbelly of India’s metropolises and the international human trafficking mafia.

    Summary of the Book

Missing social activist Lalima has chosen three women to work on the task she wasn’t able to complete all by herself. Sheila is the owner of a women’s gym in Kolkata. Nachiketa is a brave woman, an attorney in Delhi who is taking legal action on her in-laws for the brutal physical exploitation that has left her wheelchair-bound for the rest of her life. Anita is a Malayali private investigator, whose brothers are out to get her. Lalima's opponents use powerful hired murderers to find all those who have sent implicating suggestions against them. Sheila, Nachiketa and Anita are forced to fight for survival, and they are compelled for a race against time to comprehend the import of the documents they all have received.

The incredible beginning of a new saga

Almost a decade ago, Ashok Banker revolutionised the Indian Epic Fantasy/Fiction market (nay, he singlehandedly created it!) with his 6 book Ramayana series - which is still the gold standard in the genre for the sheer epic scale and his inimitable writing style. And now he's back with a thriller quadrilogy that's nothing like we've ever read before.

This is so good that you will just have to read it a stretch; you just won't feel like taking a break. Ashok Banker is that addictive! Fast-pac...

Great book, fast paced, ending geared for a sequel

First of all, the standard of writing is par excellence. Far better than most Indian writing I have come across. This is a fast paced turner - could barely keep the book down. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Only problem is a very tame ending - which is very obviously geared towards a sequel. The problem is the sequel should have been out by now, since the ending remains unsatisfactory and we really need to see the story reach a logical end.

Fast. Thrilling. A through and through Page turner!

I could not put the book down. I finished it in a day… and felt good about it, not Cheated or unsatisfied. Usually I love to read the last few pages to figure out the mystery. It makes me a lot more patient about reading the book rather than flipping through pages to reach the end. But I resisted the urge to figure out the ending before time. Not because it was predictable (cause it surely was not), or cause I was bored. I resisted cause the story flew so beautifully that I was afraid to brea...

Fast-paced thriller. Can't wait for the next book of the sequel.

Blood red sari is a really good read. It's starts off with the lives of three women and how they are affected by this strange package that is delivered to them. It goes on about how the contents of this package affects them and also, all those around them. It is a thriller that you can not put down once you've started. However, it ends pretty abruptly and leaves you waiting for the next one.

    All female leads

    Interesting novel. First of four.

Three female protagonists. All abused in past. All fiercely independent.

Angle of human trafficking and terror is interesting.

    Blood Red Saree

Ashok Banker is one of my favourite authors and I have bought and read most of his books. But the book "Blood Red Saree" is waste of time and money. Having read so many of his books, I could not understand the objective of this piece. It just doesn't flow. Yet I will continue to be an "Ashok Banker Follower".

Waste of time energy and money!

The book starts on an interesting premise... 3 women receive a anonymous package and then the whole notorious world descends upon them to eliminate them.

However, the moment the book gathers momentum (or wht u can assume is the fast paced understanding of the plot)...the book ends!

First it talks of human trafficking and then terrorism... Superhalf baked product. No head and tail can be understood of the plot and their charcters. Only the wheelchair bound protagonist is well sketched.
