BPL SL 1300 LED Solar Lights

If you are planning to buy an emergency light look no further.

What distinguishes this one from the other models available in the market is :

PROS
1) Uber cool design - The light is designed along the lines of old lanterns.
2) The illumination is quite good and sufficient to light up the whole room.
3) Easy to carry with cushioning handle.
4) Compact in size and can be stored anywhere.

CONS
1) As other reviewers have pointed out there is no LED to indicate when the battery gets fully charged. However its no big deal...you need to charge for 8 hrs initially and after that 2 to 3 hrs are sufficient.
2) You need to persuade your kids that this is not a toy as they will be quite keen to play with the light.

For those of you who want to save on electricity bill there is an option to charge the battery from sunlight (a separate pad comes along with this one).

What else are you looking for in an emergency light ?????

This is a lengthy review, buckle up….

Pros: Design, Quality, Solar-Charging, Durability.
Cons: Light output can be a little better, Operating Modes

The design, quality and build of this product is great rocks. It has a frosted lens which serves the purpose of spreading the light evenly. LED lights are very focused and it will be too much of intensity for the eye if you look at them directly, this frosted lens helps to reduce the directionality. The AC charging wire is neatly tucked at the bottom. The only thing that I miss is that it does not operate in 2 modes (High/Low) rather it has only one mode.

As for light output do not expect the product to be ultra bright. It is good enough to light a small room say like 12ft*12ft. For a bigger area it will be just about enough. Also if you are planning to read with this you need to be close to the lamp - the lamp has to be within 3-4 feet. If you want me to compare the light output against a CFL lamp let's say the light output of this lamp will be just a little lesser than any 5 watts CFL. A 5 watt CFL will produce 225 lumen power output while this one will probably produce around 175-200 lumen.

It is a durable product. Have been using it for nearly 6 months now and it is going good in a place where 2 hours (or even more) of power cuts after sunset is normal – thus have to use it daily. Except for initial charge I have charged it through solar always and it works beautifully. And will certainly run the 4 hours as claimed.

Good to have if you are travelling or camping or in places where there are unreasonable power cuts. If you are going to charge it always with AC rather go for BPL L1350 LED which is similar to this except that it does not come with a solar panel or BPL Chirag L1400 LED**. And if you need a brighter light go for BPL L1000 LED**.

I bought this product an year ago. It works perfect and gives long backup. It has two options for recharging. First, is by using AC and another by using the solar panel provided. As specified by the company the product sticks to the rules. It takes 4 to 5 hrs to get charged using the solar panel and half the time by using AC. The LEDs provide sufficient light and it is best to hang the light from the ceiling or keep in elevated position for best lighting experience. The more higher altitude you keep the more light it spreads. The light gives backup for 3 to 4 hrs if lit continuously. The length of the solar panel provided is very appreciative. The only -ve point I had is the on/off switch broke-off and went inside. May be due to some technical defect. In other words, I personally recommend this product and it is worth buy. Go for it.

1. This product came neatly packed & I was really impressed with the quality of the product..it is sturdy enough for Indian conditions of usage.
2. Excellent product for monsoon power outages...it's dual charging mode is a blessing.
3. The LED lights & the smart 360 degree special lens help in getting high illumination.
In all....a fantastic buy for me.

I purchased this light solely for the Solar Panel which comes with this product so that I can use it to charge my other BPL U.lite Lantern L1000 (which Flipkart had given a wrong description for this Product and also they have removed my post because I pointed out there error, thankfully they have now updated their description of this particular Product). Coming back to this BPL 1300 Led Emergency Light, well I was pleasantly surprised by the aesthetic beauty of this lantern and the performance of this light. Though it is not as bright as the other Led lights but the light it gives is a diffused 360 degree eye friendly light and not as harsh as the other bright led lights and it also carries the 'Made in India' tag which has now become a rarity. 5 deserving Stars.
