How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs. 150

How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company by Varun Agarwal is a compelling and humorous account of the fulfilment of entrepreneurial dreams.

Summary Of The Book

How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company is the true story of its young author Varun. The protagonist dreams about becoming an entrepreneur without much support from people around him. Convention emerges as a potent problem in the form of Engineering and MBA degrees. Alongside, there is also Anu Aunty, his mother’s best friend who turns into his biggest threat.

The character of Anu Aunty stands out in the book and she is presented as an interfering woman, poking her nose into the problems of others. She is the quintessential anxious Indian mother of an accomplished son. How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company presents Anu Aunty’s constant ridicule and mocking of Varun’s seemingly laidback and unaccomplished personality. Anu Aunty keeps appearing as an obstacle in the path of Varun and his friends at every juncture.

However, Anu Aunty’s ridicule eventually spurs Varun onto greater heights and he comes up with a business idea in partnership with his friend Rohan Malhotra. He decides to follow his own dreams and establishes an organization called Alma Mater. Creating customized accessories and outfits for educational alumni in India, the venture is a roaring success.

How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company is the author’s debut novel and is on its fourth reprint already. Having sold twenty thousand copies in only a month, the book has become a bestseller by national standards. It has also occupied a firm foothold on the bestseller charts for eighty days at a stretch. He attained initial popularity with his Facebook blog posts, a few of which were sent to his publishers. The book was conceived once they demanded a full manuscript.

Nothing New in the book

Don't expect much !!
Simple small story. Author just streched it a lot....could be better if he had talked about his company more than his other personal shit....

A great book

I bought this book after watching the "Anu Aunty Video" expecting something similar and I wasn't disappointed. The book is great and is an overview of an entrepreneur's journey. I really enjoyed reading it. Also the book was delivered really quickly.

Very Inspiring!

Very Motivating for aspiring entrepreneurs. I highly recommend you to read this. Keeps you hooked on until you finish it. Few chapters in between are unnecessary & deviating, but that can be ignored, since the central idea is very well elaborated.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

1) Awesome way of telling a success story
2) A bangalorean can definitely relate to several details mentioned in the book
3) Keeps you interested throughout
4) Inspiring for a wannabe entrepreneur for sure.

Cons (not very significant though):

1) The occasional use of vulgar lingo to keep it funny, was uncalled for, really! Also, at few places, the bangalorean way of speaking seemed to be exaggerated.
2) The book is not a 'guide to entrepreneurship'. It's purely the story of Varun and his Alma Mater, (which is pretty interesting!): nothing more nothing less.

Funny, Entertaining and I

Everyone should read this book.

This book gives it's readers a deeper look into the life and mind of a young individual who wants to do something with his life, it is like a mirror kept right in front of us so we know that we are JUST like him.
The best part about it is that you will feel like you're listening to a friend talk to you about his life, how amusing and funny it is because its something that happens to each and every one of us, everyday of our lives.

The book starts with 20 something Varun who’s freshly out of engineering and unemployed. And Varun takes you through his journey to being the Co-founder of a Million Dollar Company. But the journey is not an easy one. One of the biggest obstacles in his path is the famed ‘Anu Aunty’ , The typical nosy Indian aunt. Ordinary

Ordered this book after reading so many positive reviews on Flipkart. What I don't seem to understand is the reason behind so many 4star-5star ratings for an ordinary book.

The author narrates his entrepreneurial journey as he starts an online t-shirt store. The content of the book seems to be immature, disjointed and overall is a disappointment. Looks more like a post on a teenager's blog telling the world how cool he is.

Give this a skip. Not really worth it.

A must must read!

One of the greatest books I read so far in this year. It shows you how a person's character transforms yet remains the same with the experiences and situations that he/she stumbles upon.

You start the book relating to Varun, the author. When you were in that stage of deciding what to do with your life and people giving you a number of advice. You didn't want to meet your family friends in order to avoid, "So aajkal kya kar rahe hai bache aapke" But then as the book proceeds when you have completely framed every character in it with the real ones in your life, the author surprises you by takin
