It is a pleasure to present this book to the discerning readers of English Literature as it constitutes, mainly the critical responses of Indian academicians and scholars to the British novelists and poets and their texts. The eighteen essays included in it are well researched, comprehensive and insightful. Since the texts studied here are classics in literature they are amenable to multiple interpretations.In a way it points to the need of reevaluatin of the classical works in the present context.

Dr Chhote Lal Khatri born in 1965 in Jehanabad, Bihar, had his early education at local schools, graduated with Honours in English from College of Commerce, Patna and did his M.A in English and Ph.D from Patna University,Patna.He has been teaching English literature since 1993. Currently he is a lecturer in the Dept. of English T.P.S College, Patna.
