About Eric Carle
Eric Carle is a popular children's author and illustrator.
He has also penned The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Bad-Tempered Ladybird, Have You Seen My Cat?, The Tiny Seed, and Catch the Ball!
He draws inspiration from nature and his books revolve around his love of nature, as he believes this is something that all children are fond of too. He also makes use of the collage technique in his illustrations.
He was born in New York, USA, in 1929. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, and later at Vienna. He then embarked on his career as a graphic designer, at The New York Times, before joining an ad agency as an art director. His books are very popular children's reads and have sold over 125 million copies. He was honoured with the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for his outstanding contribution to children's literature.
