Bought this product to replace the ISP supplied router which was giving me trouble on several fronts.
The product arrived within a week of placing the order. Setting up was easy enough. Involves inserting the disc provided, giving basic info when prompted (ISP selection, account username and password, keying in default wireless username and password provided on a label affixed underneath you router, etc, etc), easy enough for laymen not familiar with router configuration. Before long you should have it up and running.
As for the performance itself, i found it to be satisfactory. The N150 allows for speeds of upto 150 Mbps working on radio type of 802.11n (by default operates on a 802.11n/g/b mixed channel) which i found added to the signal quality greatly. Have almost full signal strength in the entire house. You can configure the router manually by accessing the web based config utility which has a decent enough UI and gives explanations for all listed settings that you could configure.
Onto the Cons. In the few days that i've had the product, i have some complaints as well listed as follows:
1) I have it on 24X7 and it usually is active on download duty. Not even 24 hrs into usage, the router had reset itself to default settings overnight, discarding my SSID, password and other customized settings. When i checked up on it the next morning, i couldn't even access the net. I had to configure the thing all over again which was a pain.
2) I've also had issues with frequent disconnects. The client log in the routers web utility lists the same as "ADSL link down". Dunno if it is an ISP problem or the routers but it is such a bother. It continues to acquire and lose connection in continuity and suddenly starts working properly out of the blue.
It hasn't happened for quite a while now though so hoping that it was just an anomaly that has sorted itself out.
I suspect that frequent power outages might have something to do with both the above problems so best to get a surge protector as well.
Other than that, the device serves its purpose.
I recently borrowed this product and i am amazed. Firstly by Flipkart on the quick response and then by performance of this product.
Looks are awesome
Easy installation
Easy setup ( easier even then Bsnl)
Great UI
Excellent Security
Good wifi range
this modem is total pleasure
Worth Buying It
It may seem overpriced but its not.
Bought this on Flipkart 8th Nov and was delivered on 14th. Little late by Flipkart standards. Instalation was easy with BSNL broadband connection. Took less than 20 mins. If you select your contry and service provider it does all the settings automatically. All that is required to key in is ISP username and password. One thing which i am not very happy is the range. I thought this can help me in getting signal everywhere in our two storey house. But if you go about 50 ft away signal drops significantly. Not sure if this can be corrected by a firmware upgrade or some router setting.
I received this product from FK, when I opened and try to follow the instructions in the manual, the modem didn't switch on. I tried different things and finally figured out that its the problem with AC Power adapter.
I borrowed an 12v AC power adapter from my neighbour and tried configuring it. Every thing went untill the last step. It refused connecting to my BSNL ISP saying some DHCP/DNS issue.
My wired modem connected problem with BSNL, but this complete refuses to. Got it replaced with IBall, now I have to see how IBall works.
Thanks,
Murali
Bought this in Feb 13 from the authorized dealer shop of Buffalo in Nehru Place, Delhi at Rs 1750 to replace MTNL provided device. I have found it satisfactory till now. The range is good (compared to MTNL device) and setting up is easy. The rental charged by MTNL has made me to think about purchasing modem+router of my own.
Pro: (1) It can be wall mounted (2) easy set up from CD provided (3) good range (4) low budget (5) 3 years warranty
Cons (1) No color option - I had to buy white color which is getting dark now!!!
