Considering today’s dynamic business environment, fluctuating markets, and intense competition, this is the perfect guide for businessmen, entrepreneurs, and those who need to innovate their business models or generate new ones.
Summary Of The Book
Business Model Generation is unique in its supremely illustrative style, which aids designers and non-business personnel and helps them comprehend deep business-related concepts and jargon with ease.
The book has been broken down into five segments, Canvas, Patterns, Design, Strategy and Process, to help readers grasp the technicalities.
The section titled Canvas explicates the meaning of a business model and describes the building blocks of a practical model. Here, one can learn about a tool for constructing a business model, called the Canvas. This segment consists of three subdivisions: Definition of a Business Model, The 9 Building Blocks, and The Business Model Canvas.
The section titled Patterns analyzes and expounds several business models that have been implemented lately. It incorporates five subdivisions: Unbundling Business Models, The Long Tail, Multi-Sided Platforms, FREE as a Business Model, and Open Business Models.
The Design segment simplifies and interprets the building blocks necessary to devise one’s own operative model and has six subdivisions under it: Customer Insights, Ideation, Visual Thinking, Prototyping, Storytelling, and Scenarios.
The Strategy segment examines the kind of environment that today’s business models must be built around. It further goes on to elucidate how a business model needs to be assessed and teaches readers the techniques of managing more than one model at a time. The four chapters in this segment are Business Model Environment, Evaluating Business Models, Business Model Perspective on Blue Ocean Strategy, and Managing Multiple Business Models.
Process is the last segment of the book and contains six chapters, i.e. Business Model Design Process, Outlook, Afterword, Where Did This Book Come From?, and References. It takes the reader through the entire operation of developing a business model.

I have read my books on design, visual thinking and business models, this book by far is the most well written work on them.
I recently lead a workshop and using the business model canvas it was just very simple to explain to the participants how loopsided or how perfected their business was and the model is such a simple one, that it didn't take time for them to understand it.
The book goes from basic to advanced level thinking and to come to think of it, I bought other visual thinking and design thinking books but this one is still the most 'loaded' and written in very simple language. There can't possibly be a more simple language for such concepts.
And the visual design of the book, that just the cherry on the icing.
Highly recommended by me and rightly said, for visionary, game changers and challengers.
Unlike many of the self help books with endless paras of boring advice, this is a wonderfully presented book with excellent ideas and advice for anyone trying to create and execute interesting and new business models. Try some of these exercises with your team, and you will get amazing insights in your own business!
Co-created by 470 "Business Model Canvas" practitioners from 45 countries, the book features a beautiful, highly visual, 4-color design that takes powerful strategic ideas and tools, and makes them easy to implement in your organization. It explains the most common Business Model patterns, based on concepts from leading business thinkers, and helps you reinterpret them for your own context.
Frankly i bought this book out of curiosity for the subject and good reviews, and i'm elated that i've purchased it. A broad view of how the business world operates is lucidly explained and one does not get bored while reading them which is a general perception. The quality of book where i mean the content and paper quality as well is certainly worth more than the price.
