Canada's Immigrants, Heroes and Countrymen (Volume II) reflects the new emerging trends towards pluralism in Canada. The book tells the story of Canada's people since its early history and is an account of how immigration policy has evolved over the last one hundred years. But in order to give the reader a sense of the forces of socio-political history that have caused the movement of people across the world, the book carries narratives on the political and economic conditions in Europe, South East Asia and Asia Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, that drove people out of their countries to either seek refuge or change their economic lives in Canada. The focus of this new title, which builds on the first volume released in 2001, is people. It tells the stories of 50 new Canadians across Canada who have, as first generation immigrants, achieved great success, demonstrated heroic courage in the transition process and who continue to give Canada their heart and soul. The people profiled include politicians, musicians, novelists, doctors, activists, astronauts, broadcasters, lawyers, businessmen, academics and many more. This book is virtually about dreams and how to realize them.
