The Canon 1100D weighs 495 g and has a comfortable grip. The DSLR has a dedicated button for video recording and flash which lets you switch without any delay. You are also provided with a Q-button which instantly takes you to the menu, where you can tweak the camera settings. This Canon camera has a bright pentamirror viewfinder which lets you frame your photographs accurately and also helps conserve the camera's battery life. The 1100D digital SLR camera also has a 2.7 inch TFT color LCD with a 230, 000 dot resolution which is very helpful in Live View mode.You can use a SD, SDHC or SDXC memory card for optimum storage of your shots. The Canon EOS 1100D SLR camera works on rechargeable Li-Ion LP-E10 battery with a capacity to give you as much as 700 shots per charge.
Performance
The Canon EOS 1100D lets you experiment with several lenses as it is compatible with all EF and EF-S lenses. The focal length range of the 1100D SLR is 18 - 55 mm, while the aperture ranges from f/3.5 - 5.5. This DSLR camera has a fast and accurate 9 point TTL phase detection auto focus system, thus giving you sharp images every time.Dimly lit subjects can be captured with minimum noise and without resorting to the flash by changing ISO, bulb and shutter speed settings. The ISO range of Canon 1100D ranges from ISO 100 - 6400, while shutter speed ranges from 1/4000 - 30 sec. Alternatively, you can also use the pop-up flash or add an external flash via hot shoe to brighten up your subject.

A unique feature of the Canon EOS 1100D SLR is its Feature Guide. This intuitive mode helps you hone your skills, as the 1100D SLR offers descriptions on the camera settings, buttons and effects. You can also play with several scene modes like Close-up, Sports, Night Portrait, Creative and many more.The Canon DSLR has an anti-static coating on the sensor as well as a software based dust removal system in place, which helps increase the durability of the camera. Wave goodbye to hazy pictures as the camera also corrects blurriness with an image stabilizing feature.
The self-timer function of this DSLR lets you delay the tripping of the shutter for up to 10 seconds. In Continuous Shooting Mode, the camera shoots 3 frames per second making sure you never miss a moment. The images you shoot get saved in RAW or JPEG format whereas your videos are in MOV format. Enjoy your pictures and videos on the big screen by connecting the Canon EOS 1100D to a HDTV via the HDMI port. You can also connect the camera to your computer or laptop via the high speed USB 2.0 port.

an affordable beauty!!!!!!
chosed canon EOS 1100d after a lot of research....was confused with nikon d3100...
a breif comparison:
picture quality- both of them does wonders n there is nothing much to notice between them...
build -no doubt about it that nikon beats canon in this respect, canon is lil plasticky
controls- canon leads here with much simpler and good ergonomics.
interface on canon also looks quite proffesional..
however ,nikon provides a guide mode which make the things bit easier but i dont think it makes much sense ,coz anyone going for SLR must be having a basic photography concepts.
range of lenses- this was the factor which made me choose canon as canon is fitted with an inbuilt focusing motor ,which nikon d3100 lacks.
,so all lenses autofocuses on canon but not on nikon d3100.
only AF-s lenses autofocuses on nikon which are 2-3 times costlier than the AF lenses.so,if u want to use 50mm f/1.8 lens ,which is the most affordable and wonderful lens available on canon and nikon both, this will autofocus on canon 1100d but not on nikon. on nikon u have to manually focus or spend around 13k on 50 mm AF-S f/1.8 which is twice as costlier than the previous one.
so,if u want d-slr for looks -nikon
if for image quality- nikon or canon either
affordable photography with good lens compatibility- always canon
Best entry level DSLR
It is the best entry level dslr for those who are trying dslr for the first time. The main competitor to it is Nikon 3100. Its up to you to choose canon or nikon. If you choose Canon it is the best to step your foot into. Canon 1000 now become old so don't go for it since you can buy an advanced model with a little too much. When this was released it was costing a little more than 25k but suddenly the price was increased to 29k ... It may get reduced but the demand is more so unsure about the price reduction. Overall The best in its class :-)

Great SLR for Beginners
This is the advanced version of the Canon EOS 1000D.EOS 1000D did not have IS kens,Video Mode and just had the ISO limit of 1600 whereas it is 6400 in EOS 1100D.The megapixel of EOS 1000D was 10.1 mp and EOS 1100D is 12.2mp.EOS 1100D also consists of HD Video shooting-720p.It has a 6.8 cm LCD. In short it is the best SLR of this price.Those who have basic Photography skills can go ahead with it.I just bought it a month ago.Before this I was using a Olympus Digi-cam through which I did the basics.Now I enjoy doing Photography through this camera i.e. Canon EOS 1100D.
A great choice for the price range
I do not have a great knowledge on cameras. But I purchased this one after some research on the net. I must say that it was one of the best decisions I made.
The picture quality and clarity is amazing. It is very easy to use even for a first timer with SLRs (like me). You do not need a guide book to know what are the various options that are there in the camera.
The great thing is I can ask any one to take a photo of mine by switching on the LCD display if they do not know how to use the view finder.
Overall it is a great camera and a good buy for the price range for your first SLR.
