Canon IXUS is an excellent point and shoot camera. An ideal gadget for an amateur who has no idea of how to click good pictures. Extremely good resolution and high picture quality along with good battery life. Compact and handy, making it less bulky than some of the smartphones like iphone.
Hi,
Using this cam for almost a month now and its been pure delight using it. You get awesome picture clarity and details both indoor and outdoor.
The HS system works like a gem . It gives you unmatched picture details and quality when shooting in low light conditions.
Colors come awesome and it has cool effects too, You can shoot high speed movies both in 120 & 240 fps.
If you are considering this vs the 220HS i recommend going for this one and save some bucks, bcoz from all the reviews i read there were no major advantage of 220HS vs this one.
The 220HS has a 5X zoom & 24mm wide angle lens so if you prefer more wide angle go for 220HS, Though the 28mm lens in 115HS is also real wide angle . 5x doesn't matter since there is little difference b/w 112 & 120 mm @ max zoom.
115HS has no optical zooming while video recording whereas 220HS has optical zooming but its real slow, Also 220HS has auto focus in video mode whereas 115HS has no auto focus while recording videos.
Picture quality in 115HS is more than 220HS , SO if you are more of a picture taker and occasional videographer i recommend the Canon IXUS 115HS . Its quality is unmatched and in a different league setting it apart from most point & shoot cameras
Take One and you won't regret buying this beauty . And Canon is canon , nobody can beat it ..!
Excellent features. Noise is very less in photos. The scenes given by them are awsome. Especially the My Color feature which boosts the colour which u want, by which u can take excellent pictures of Landscapes. Also the long shutter option.
The slow motion movie is the best in the lot. It really rocks. Only issue with that is since it takes 120/240fps videos, the pic quality suffers which is bearable and expected.
HD Video clarity and sound clarity is amazing. Crystal clear sound.
Pros
** A large Number of modes.Roughly 28 Modes
** Slim Design with minimum number of buttons
** Super stylish Design [Black One]
** High Sensitivity Senser.Things that were barely visible to eyes could be captured fine with this one.
** The flash on the device will remain as a decoration as it rarely needs to be used.
** Servo & Tracking AF available.
** Large 3" Display . Many of the cameras in this rage came with a 2.7" display.
** Super Speed Burst- 7 Shots per Sec @ 3MP ,2.5 Shots per sec @ 12MP [tested Speeds ]
** Speedy operation,Less than 1 second Startup time.
** Fully Metallic Body
Cons
* Full HD is at 24 fps only.
* Camera heats up a little when shooting at FULL HD.
* Buttons were a little bit Hard to press initially. But you will get used to it soon.
* No mode switch.[May be because of large number of modes.
* The color of the flap for HDMI & USB ports faded out quickly
lack of built in panorama. Needs an external software for * Creating panorama from images shot using stitch assist mode.
* No Optical view finder [Maybe to reduce the size]
Some of the worth Mentioning modes are,
Slow Shutter - one of my fav modes. Upto 15 Secs of Shutter speed available.
Movie Digest - Takes a 4 sec clip with every image shot are it all goes into a single video file.
Smart Shutter - Smile or Wink or New face entry modes.
Miniature effect - Blurring the image on a Selected rectangle
Clor Swap Mode - Swaps between tow colors selected in an image.
Super Slow motion Movie -One of the main features of the camera.
Shots 640x480 Movies at 120Fps or 320x240 movies at 240 fps
and dilates it into a Normal 30 fps Slow motion movie.
Conclusion
Overall i would recommend this camera though its a bit costly.Meanwhile you can check out other brands which are cheaper than Canon devices.
If you are planning to buy this ,go for a Black one.It looks awesome cool.
Recently I have exchanged sd 770 with ixus 115 HS.The camera has a CMO censor.12.1 mega pixel with 4x optical apart from 4x digital zoom is really sufficient for an amateur.3 inches lcd screen make it a wonderful choice. One can try taking photos in different situations. The vedio is in HD format of 1920/1080 pixels compliments with good vedio result.I have taken few photos & the results when viewed on my laptop are with amazing clarity.the clarity of the vedio may not be comparable to the vedio taken on 550d canon, but when compared to several brands available in the market it is a ahead of all the brands.I love canon.
