Examining recent developments in the relationship between glass and contemporary residential architecture since the early 20th century, this work looks briefly at the work of such innovators as John Lautner and Philip Johnson. An array of contemporary urban and rural houses in which glass plays a central role are presented, showing how glass integrates living spaces with local contexts, provides a strategy for interior illumination, and serves as an interior element in its own right.
