CAT Topic-wise Solved Papers is a book that’s targeted at students and other candidates aspiring to perform well in the Common Admission Test (CAT). The Common Admission Test is an online test conducted in India for candidates who seek admission to various management courses at top institutes like the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Indian Institute of Science, and several other business schools.
Every candidate is expected to complete two sections, each one containing 30 questions and having a duration of an hour and ten minutes. The first section is based on quantitative ability and data interpretation. The second section corresponds to logical reasoning and verbal ability. Around 16 CAT papers corresponding to the years 1994 to 2009 are covered in this book. The cancelled paper of the year 2003 is also included.
The book contains a total of 24 chapters that are compiled within 3 units. It presents 2300 problems as part of the three sections of the book. Every chapter ends with the solutions to the problems covered in the corresponding chapter. Alternative solutions are also provided wherever relevant.
The first section begins with the number system and set theory, and continues with topics like ratio and proportion, functions, profit and loss, percentage, geometry, probability, permutation and combination, and mensuration.
The second section of the book deals with the concepts of analytical and logical reasoning. It also covers data sufficiency, data tabulation, and various types of charts including pie charts, line charts, and bar charts.
The third section covers the elements of verbal ability. It includes chapters dealing with grammar, paragraph construction, vocabulary, punctuation, and reading comprehension.
The book provides numerous techniques and shortcuts to help CAT aspirants answer questions much faster than usual. Given the paucity of time in this highly competitive exam, the candidate will find theses tips and tricks very handy.
CAT Topic-wise Solved Papers has been published by Disha Publications. This particular edition of the book is the sixth edition, and it was published in the year 2010.
About The Authors
Deepak Agarwal has authored and co-authored several books including Discover The Genius In Your Child, Objective Maths Coordinate Geometry, Numerical Chemistry For IIT-JEE, and MAT Entrance Guide.

A good book for Quant, DI
It's a good book for CAT aspirants. Solutions are detailed and crisp. But I found many errors in verbal section. Explanations and options are not correct for many verbal questions. I like the topic wise arrangement. One can practice one's weakness and skip other areas. Worth the price that Flipkart offers. I would rate 4/5 for Quant DI and 1/5 for Verbal.

Increase in book price?
I recently got the book a few days back and the price was 240.It has been increased to 400.Anyways the book is excellent.All the topics are classified neatly.The sevice from flikart was not what is normally expected from them. There was a delay in the arrival.

A complete waste!
Well, when you open a book that says "Solved Papers", you assume that the solutions are correct. Unfortunately, the assumption turns wrong as soon as you start moving ahead with the pages. The books seems completely outdated and will not help people with the new Computer Based Test - CAT.
Good thing: You get to know what kind of questions appeared back then in 1994. Cheers!

ohk.....now this book is good for qaunts part....no mistakes...nicely solved....but there are mistakes in the data sufficiency part....not few but i wud say quite a good number....so while soving the problems for sections other than quants..one need to be really careful....otherwise...good book...my experience with this book is good....and yes flipkart service awesome...!!!!!!good luck....
