Celestron 15x70 Binoculars

First off, these are quite big. Much bigger than your usual wildlife/nature binocs. These are specifically for astronomical viewing, and so have a large objective (70 mm) to gather light.

It has been cloudy the last few days, and the moon has been rising late, so I didn't get a chance for thorough astronomical use. However, I was able to spot Mars, Saturn (no, you don't get to see the rings) and a very good number of stars - just point it at an area of the sky where you don't actually see anything, and you'll be surprised how many stars jump out - even amidst all the city light pollution.

That said - if you're looking for deep sky views or to see details of planets and rings of saturn and stuff - you can't get that through these, or for that matter, any binoculars. These can mostly be used to find star clusters, constellations, and get to know your way around the sky.
Will definitely have to write another review after I get to see the moon with these, and another after I take these to a dark sky site.

Terrestrial observation was also rather excellent with them. Was able to focus on objects very far away and almost invisible to the naked eye.

These are somewhat heavy, and you'll need a tripod for extended observation, or you'll end up with sore arms.

Pros:
-Good starter if you're interested in astronomy and sky-watching. Will surprise you with the number of stars you can find
-good light gathering ability.
-Very good optics for the money. I mean, you could buy steiners which are definitely better quality, but they cost a lakh something, as against 6k for this stuff.

Cons:
-Central focus knob is just a little bit wobbly.
-eyepiece covers just keep falling off.
-Not very high quality rubber finishing. Smells like dunlop tyres :)

Very good value for money. Haven't had major issues with it so far, touchwood.

Great product for Astronomy and bird watching

Quick delivery by Flipkart in 3 days. Arrived in very good packing.

These are really big binoculars and need use with tripod. I had already ordered once. Good quality optics. Fortunately well aligned as well which was my biggest concern based on other reviews. Tripod adapter was also good enough for me.

I had a chance to use this in two occasion so far. Fits very well on tripod easily with adapter.

Astronomy: Moon was amazing with all the details of craters. Jupiter looked like bright ball of light but could easily see four moons of Jupiter. Orion nebula could be spotted easily and could see the clouds. Next target is to locate Andromeda and expecting to spot from dark location

Bird watching: Immediately planned the visit to nearby bird sanctuary and was amazed to see how clear and close the image was. With naked eye I could see only outline of bird but with these binocular I could see all the detail and colors

Cons: The weight but expected you will certainly need tripod, but worth all the investment you will make .

Great binoculars!

Bought this from flipkart, but the one I received was poorly collimated.
Thankfully flipkart sent me a replacement which was perfect. These are pretty well built astronomical range binoculars.
The package includes a tripod mount adapter, lens caps, carry bag, neck strap & manuals.
After using for a week, I could easily see most of the popular star systems. Also spot Jupiter as a bright dot and 4 of it's moons as tiny dots around, and Saturn as an elongated glow. You can't see planets in detail since that requires an expensive telescope. The moon is amazing to look at through these, you can see the craters and the lines on the surface.
This is a pretty heavy binocular and holding it for a long time can be difficult for star gazing. A tripod is highly recommended for a steady view. For terrestrial purpose these are excellent too. You can spot things far away that you normally can't see with your naked eyes.

Pros
Good optics for the price.
Bright, sharp image, good magnification.

Cons
Slight lens aberration at long distance, also some lens distortion.
Lens caps doesn't fit tight.
Slightly expensive imo.

Good product

Hi friends, I purchased this item in April 2013 at Aurangabad, MH. I satisfied with the fast service of Flipkart elogistic.
The product I got has a good quality of magnification , good focusing.
The moon looks beautiful. I tried to see Jupiter but I can not manage to see it clearly because of lot of shaking of hand held binocular. I suggest to have a heavy weight tripod.
It is a nice product.
Only one thing I does not like is a packaging of product during shipment. Product I got was not sealed. also it was packed in a paper box.

Big and Heavy you will need Tripod

If you use it with a Tripod it is a Great Binocular. Without a Tripod you can use for 15-20 minutes, after that your arms will hurt.

The Tripod adapter provided needs to be filled with Araldite, as it is made of plastic and cannot bear the weight of the Binocular.
