desperate need to UPDATE!!
Though its a 2012 reprint bt the edition is of the 70's.One can for once overlook the fact that its no longer BOMBAY n MADRAS but its distressing to see that PLUTO is still considered the 9th planet and USSR is still a country..such handiwork is not expected from 'THE' OXFORD PRESS!
However its quite lucid for understanding basics of physical geography.One may find several unnecessary chapters in terms of preparation fr UPSC but its worth a shot if one is a fresher!

Google would be best than this book , Very much out Dated
As one user said in december 2011 , the pluto has been referred as ninth planet . but i m writing this in december 2012 still it is not updated that means there is no updated versions available .
( IAU in 2006( 6 yrs back and still the book is out of date ) passed resolutions which defined planets , dwarf planets and other celestial bodies distinctly . with respect to that resolutions , pluto has been assigned or represented as DWARF PLANET )
i guess school books would provide much updated details than this
so dont buy this one . if u still want this ,search for it in local books shops where they sell second hand books
because since it is very much out of date ,, its not worth to pay 245 for this .. if u search for local shop u may get the same book with same details below 50rs but a second hand one ..
excellent book for UPSC civil'services preparation
It is a must buy book for getting hold of geography concepts. It is rich in diagrams, illustrations and case studies.
It has always been favourite with geography toppers and also'for'general studie. In prelims geography carries considerable weight especially environmental geography which this books covers quite nicely.
Go for it without delay.
