This is really something our Politicians should read. I know it will be hard (very very hard) for them to digest and implement (even 5%) but still I would want them to read ... just to realise what a mess they have created.
The book is a thorough analysis of the problems plagueing the country and the good thing is that it does not stop at the rhetoric. It goes one step ahead and recommends concrete action steps (real practical ones and not theoretical ones) to improve the situation.
How feasible are these recomendations .... well, I think some IAS officers, Honest and Able Politicians and the likes of Abdul Kalam might be able to throw light on that. To me, most of it seemed pretty do'able (except of course the opposition from Politicians since they would begin to lose their discretionary powers that enable them to be corrupt)
Reading a non-fiction at times boring as lots of description, analysis with technical terms and jargon. I found this book interesting.
Reasons are the following:
Easy and quick read
Author makes it a point to mention that book is a blue print
meant for debate and not the final document for approval
though you can find some analysis with words that are normally used, I didn't get bored with the same
Hope is the key of the book, reform oriented in the current system
Pavan Varma comes up with an absurd theory which seeks to stereotype the Hindu religion and millions of its followers as morally loose and ‘corruption friendly.’
Please read the elaborate response to Pavan Varma's theory on Vijayvaanidotcom before purchasing this book.
The books give lots of practical ideas to improve the system in our nation. The books also shows up the deep understanding of Author. The varied statistics given for information or support a fact interesting.
This book takes the very unbiased view of the overall situation and what steps are required in the field of Governance, reforms, economy, security etc. Author has explained various alternatives and how critical it is for us to get into action mode to come out of this crisis.
While buying this, I first felt that the author is just riding on brand "Chanakya" to sell this. But within the first few pages you will realize that it not only pin points the present day problems for India, but also provides a comprehensive and realistic agenda on how to bring about change.
I got really inspired reading this book. If we could implement even half of the things written here, India could easily overtake China as soon as in the next 5 years!
For me the favourite solution was to solve the coalition politics mess without tampering our constitution.
Who knows, if not the exact same solutions, chanakya would have clearly pointed out what problems take priority as the author very clearly does here.
excellent work by Pavan varma
our policymakers shud implement d solutions given in this book.
it forced me to think deeply about our country and d crisis we r facing..can't express my feelings but one thing for sure .."u will enjoy d solutions " of present day pblms.
