A Historical Fiction

Looking at the of the book, I thought it would be a historical treatise for scholars than for casual readers. I am glad that I was proven wrong. The only reason I picked up to read it was because of the cover looked mystical. It is as unputdownable a book as I have ever read by an Indian writer. The way the author builds the aura around Chandragupta, his might, his sense of propriety and cunning is mindblowing. Thrilling is a word one would not often associate with historical biographies. But...

Good Read

This is a great book, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I liked the narration and the presentation style of the author. I normally take a lot of time to complete a book but I read this book in flat two days. Great read, highly recommended.

Great Content - Disappointing writing skills

This is a great read if you are a history buff - great characterization, quotes and seamless weaving of plots.

What was disappointing for me was the rather poor usage of the language which is definitely an editorial nightmare. Also the author keeps repeating himself and draws reference to a previous incident which makes me believe that the author thinks the reader is not very smart in connecting the two - it isn't an epic or a big book where a reader might be lost in the myriad of plots.

I...

Amazing.....!!!

Even though this book is a Historical fiction, it won't let it's readers to get bored. An amazing work by Mr. Rajat Pillai. Me personally very impressed. The usage of simple language made me to get stick and to complete the whole book in a short period.
Previously i read Ashwin Sanghvi's "Chanakya's chant" which slightly put light on the history of Chandragupta and his guru Chanakya completely in a contrast manner compared to this book. But this book gave me enough knowledge abo...

Bad book and a very negative influence

Do not read it if you adore, hero worship or even have slightest respect for the greatest teacher Chanakya or greatest emperor Chandragupta Maurya. Read Chanakya's chant again and do not contaminate your thoughts about the two greatest indians by reading this piece of low class and sadistic writing. Worse than Chetan Bhagat stuff.

A story so inspiring, every Indian should read.

This book was recommended by a friend since it was making waves on the social networking websites. It has everything from well-developed characters, historical authenticity, battle strategy, philosophy, unlimited thrill and above all a message of patriotism. The last battle sequence especially blew my mind.

Finally we have an India author who is telling us about our roots in simple common man language. Giving us well researched material in a very interesting manner. I saw some grammatical mis...

Indian Fiction writing at its best

This book was recommended to me by one of my friends. It is fast paced with intricate details on ancient India, including many things I did not know about. The war description and the battle strategies are out of this world ! It treats the protagonist as a real human being in difficult situation which is great. A must read for everyone who loves historical fiction and loves India.

Superb ! This book is addictive

I got this book on Friday evening. Once I started reading I did not realize how the weekend passed away. The best thing I like is that the story finally manages to give the character of Chandragupta its long pending dues. All other books are fixated with Chanakya. The plot has multiple twists and the book is very fast paced. Highly recommended !!!!
