Its a delight to know from where the monsoon begins its journey and Frater's depiction and enthusiasm flows not only through the journalistic pages but also through my veins. I did make the best of decisions in my life, when a soul friend called up to say, "I spotted this book in the library, and I have a feeling we both should read it". He was right.

I bought this book in the month of July, which was the onset of torrential rain in several parts of our country. a very interesting read. The author follows the monsoon as it spreads across India. He focuses on how the monsoon changes the color, mood, of the land as it arrives. He also does touch upon the India bureaucracy he needs to tackle to visit Cherranpnji.
