The Code of the Woosters (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.196

The Code Of The Woosters by P.G. Wodehouse is a witty social adventure that Bertie Wooster and Jeeves embark on.

Summary Of The Book

Published in 1938, The Code Of The Woosters showcases two of the most memorable characters that P.G Wodehouse has ever created, Jeeves and Bertie Wooster.

Part of the Totleigh Towers adventures, this work also features Roderick Spode and Sir Watkyn Bassett. A bachelor party of epic consequences, Bertie finds himself in all sorts of trouble despite his well meant intentions for his soon-to-be-married friend, Gussie Fink-Nottle.
Aunt Dahlia calls Bertie, despite his utmost reluctance, for personal errands that have to do with her husband, Tom Travers. Needless to say, this is not handled well by Bertie. He falls into a series of problems that lead him to seek the help of his trustworthy and ingenious butler, Jeeves.

Police, jail time, accidental marriages, and much more form part of this story’s narrative as Jeeves sorts out Bertie’s mess. P.G Wodehouse is perhaps one of the few writers whose sense of humor, as seen in his works, is applauded even today.

The Code of the Woosters was adapted into a radio series.

About P.G Wodehouse

Jeeves, Psmith, Mr. Mulliner, Uncle Fred, Blandings Castle, Bertie Wooster, all of these characters are credited to one extraordinary author known as P.G. Wodehouse.

Wodehouse wrote 96 books in his career spanning over seven decades. Some of these books are The Blandings Castle stories, The Golf and Oldest Member stories, The Mr Mulliner stories, The Ukridge stories, The Jeeves and Wooster stories, The Uncle Fred stories, Joy in The Morning, Love Among the Chickens, Leave it to Psmith, Heavy Weather, and Uncle Fred in the Springtime.

His writing style is said to be a blend of classically-informed drawing-room English with London clubroom slang.

Born on 15th October, 1881, Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse was a journalist and a humorist associated with a vast body of literary work. One of the most successful English authors, he wrote over a period of seventy years. Despite the looming World Wars and its aftermath, Wodehouse stuck to the aristocratic society and its various idiosyncrasies before the wars. He was and still is most noted for his creation of Jeeves and the stories revolving around Blandings Castle. He was also a playwright who had written several plays and musical comedies. Anything Goes was one such musical which he composed in collaboration with Cole Porter in 1934. He had written several popular show tune lyrics and his name resides in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Wodehouse was briefly associated with newspapers and wrote several journalistic prose pieces. He soon gave that up for a full time career as an English humorist and dabbled in music at the side.

the code of the woosters-NEVER let a pal down.

my first encounter with a PG wodehouse novel turned out be an outrageously funny and convincingly witty read.
Sporadic goofiness of bertie and consistent ingenuity of jeeves saved the day for almost all characters in this exquisite novel, barring for sir watkin bassett and roderick spode(the dictator!).
get ready to dive into the world of totleigh towers.

Code of woosters is one of the Wodehouse . The first 80 pages maybe a bit dull but the rest are amazing . There is a hillarious twist every 8 pages .
