Here is a clear review
Yes, the general and maths take up half of the book. So, kinda annoying. That's the only con.
The introductory notes given at the starting of each chapter(technical) is very concise and clear as are the solved examples. Much better than the GKP crap. Exercise questions are standard too and have solutions.
Look people, there is no magic-spoon-feed book for gate. You have to read the textbooks for clear concepts. This book is a good supplement.

BOUGHT IT LAST YEAR AND GAVE GATE EXAM THIS MARCH.
FOUND ALMOST NOTHING COVERED IN THIS BOOK.
BUY THIS BOOK TO PREPARE FOR AVERAGE STANDARD TESTS LIKE SSC OR BANK PO ETC ETC.
QUESTION LEVELS ARE PATHETIC.EVEN A KID CAN DO THEM.
CERTAINLY NOT RECOMMENDED FOR GATE.
BETTER TRY SOMETHING ELSE.
RATING 3 STARS AS YOU CAN USE IT FOR OTHER COMPETITIVE EXAMS OTHER THAN GATE.

Very Good book with excellent content
This is an excellent book from TIME for GATE preparations . The content is very good and is arranged in an impressive manner . You can go ahead and get this book .. It is better to buy this book and one more book which contains all previous years solved question papers . Ignore the reviews- which says that the book has lots of silly mistakes . Either those people doesn't have proper subject knowledge or they must have never opened the book . The book will really help you for GATE prep.

Awesome book: Definitely different than others book in market
this is a great book extensive coverage of theory good number of solved examples and plenty of quality questions to practice but it does not have previous year gate solved papers you can buy last 10 years gate paper with solutions either of G.k publishers or Made Easy with this book AND i would recommend it to all my friends

Best book for GATE preparation
With just 4 months left for the GATE, it is almost impossible to sit and read the GATE-recommended textbooks cover to cover. So I ordered this book (from Flipkart) and also some study material from a renowned coaching institute.

Worse Book
This is worse book than any book available any book in market. Nobody can expect book like this from Pearson and Time. GATE Exam has 30 % GA and Maths and 70 % Core. But this book has 70 % GA and Maths and 30 % Core. GA Part is good but for GATE nobody steady GA. Book has 850 pages on GA and maths.
Core part is also not good. only 50 question on a unit has been given. They are also not solved.
Fot GATE it would be better if you read Kanodia.

NICE AND AWESOME
THIS BOOK IS A NEW ENTRY INTO THIS CATEGORY. IT GIVES MORE EMPHASIS ON APTITUDE AND GENERAL ENGLISH THAN THAT OF THE CORE SUBJECTS. BUT IT PRESENTED THE CORE SUBJECTS IN A TYPICAL PATTERN. A GATE ORIENTED COMPLETE TRAINING. I WENT THROUGH THIS BOOK, PAPER QUALITY IS NOT UP TO THE EXPECTATIONS.
ONE OF THE PROBLEM I NOTICED WHILE BUYING IS , FLIPKART REDUCING THE PRICE WEEKLY, I LOST MORE THAN RS. 40 FOR A WEEK EARLIER BUYING.
