Confessions Of A Serial Dieter is the result of the author’s personal experiences in managing her weight. It looks into the myths, dilemmas and other weight related aspects that gives the readers a step-by-step approaching on attaining their ideal weight.
Summary Of The Book
Confessions Of A Serial Dieter is the author’s weight loss memoir. It tells the reader about her secret on reducing her weight from a 100 kgs to an astonishing 60. It is a humorous account of her journey from the age of 4 when she did not know the meaning of dieting to the time she realized how being fat or thin is perceived by others.
The diets in the book are named funnily like The Champagne Diet, and The Wedding Diet, and are structured in a manner similar to the episodes in her life, complete with anecdotes, characters and pieces of weight wisdom. It takes the reader along with the author on her weight loss quest trying out different methods ranging from surya namaskars set to Bollywood tunes and drinking coconut water.
Writing in a style that is simple and accessible to all along with the author’s personal touch, Confessions Of A Serial Dieter has the author sharing her secrets from more than 40 diets to different workouts that helped her attain a weight that she was finally happy with. It also debunks the many myths associated with weight loss and the emotional issues accompanying it. The author also presents to the reader the darker side of the so called “Dieting Industry”. The book also contains a few recipes along with their calorie count.

A "how to do" book and not just a "what to do" book.

Foodies rejoiceThis is not just a diet book. Though it will give you great tips on how to shed your excess kilos - some are sensible, some are not. It is a more a delightful memoir of our extremely complex relationship with food. Kalli describes her food with such artistry that you know instantly this book is written by someone who truly loves the stuff - as opposed to most dieticians who couldn't tell a millefuille from a granola bar. What makes it all the more worthwhile is that in the end she has found that perfect balance between hedonistic pleasure and spartanism. It inspired me to get up this morning … (Expand)

Inspiring and entertaining!Great book! Finally a book for foodies who want to lose weight. There are so many diets here that you're sure to find one tailored to you own `foodie weakness'! What makes the book work for me is not just the number of diets on offer but also the author's frank confessions that any fat person will relate to. Her anecdotes make you warm up to her and her ideas... a most enjoyable and inspiring read. I'm adopting it as my weight loss bible for 2012!

Depressing and of no useI got this book thinking that she'll share the absurd diets that we chubby people follow and how she finally got a better outlook in life to get accept a healthy lifestyle. I was wrong.

To be fatI like this book not as a diet book (I would never follow any of these bizarre diets) but as a memoir. I bet this book took lots of guts to write and publish. If the aim of the author was to motivate the reader to really take their health seriously, I think the book really works. It also reflects how much we associate ourselves with our bodies. Kalli's obsession to lose weight is positively inspiring albeit a little scary. It takes a fat girl to get into the mind of one and for once, I appreciate the 'advice' coming from a 'credible' source. I may not follow her advice, but I've got to say she… (Expand)

Not really worth the time1. The diet that the author follws is what south delhi dietician Nishi Grover prescribes. Nothing original in it.

Don't get itI was looking forward to reading this book because I thought it must be like one woman's journey to true weight loss. I don't think we're all lucky enough to have lived in different continents, having been proposed for marriage somewhere exotic, etc. Beyond that, the methods that Kalli has tried are EXPENSIVE. She went off to a retreat for like a month, then she went to Dee who was also very strict and obviously charged a lot of consultation fees. Then she got herself a personal trainer to fit into a dress for a wedding at ITALY. She lost more weight by fad diets than she did by eating right a… (Expand)

Confessions have never been this sweetLoved it. Loved it. Just Loved it. An honest account from a working mother/wife. Thoroughly entertaining and unputdownable. For once no one's preaching for what to do and what not to do. A must read for all.

Good effortThe writing is good, but the diets are no easy to follow. Anyways, let me how much I can follow this one.
