Cooler Master 90 CFM Blue LED Cooler

Got 2 of these to function as intake fan replacements (for an iball cabinet). Observed the following:

The 90CFM claim is spot on, the difference from an ordinary 120mm fan can be felt physically while running

The fan is near-totally silent even at full speed

The fan comes with a 3-pin to molex adapter with a Y-splitter so that another fan can be connected in a chain.

The looks are nonstandard - the blades are a semi-transparent smoky gray and the frame is almost fully opaque, also the LED lighting is not of a constant intensity - upto a third from the corners is very bright, and then the rest of it is a lot dimmer. This is not a negative thing, only it is different from a regular LED fan.

For looks I would give it 9/10, for performance full marks... it is very efficient and value for money.

PROS -

1) Cooler Master's 90 CFM claim is very true. It delivers not precisely 90 CFM but between 80 and 90.

2)Another plus is the 3 to 4 pin converter it comes with. So you re free to either plug one of these into your mobo or into the molex on your psu.

3) Looks - The led on the fan is just as it should be - neither too bright nor too dim. The fan does have a rich look.

4) Price - 500 bucks for such performance makes it a Value for money product.

CONS -

1) Noise - Yes it is a bit on the louder side. The 19 dba claim is misleading. On researching a bit more on these I found out that the rating is 19 dba when you run them at the lowest speed by undervolting.
Even on the cooler master site they mention 19 dba and later on in the end say that the actual rating at max speed i.e 2000 RPM is 38 dba.
This is a cheap trick and quite mis-leading.

2) A back-draw would be that it doesnt come with good pair of screws. The screws are short in length and you ll have to use yours if you want a tight fit on your case. Also, they dont provide you screw loops. So again, you ll have to use yours.

3) Flipkart delivery - Not convinced this time. They used to deliver before time in their early days. However as time has passed, they seem to be getting used to delivering at the last minute on the last day of expected delivery. My parcel was lying at the hub nearest to my place for 3 long days. This is something you dont expect from flipkart.

CONCLUSION -
You cant ask for performance and best acoustics at the same time. Something delivering close to 90 CFM @ 2000 RPM will make noise. You have to live with it if you want that kind of performance especially when you re getting it this cheap. These and the xtraflow series from CM are certainly the best buys for anyone on a budget. It get my recommendation for both purposes - cpu push & pull cooling as well as case ventillation.

Just received it in the morning. Had it installed in less than a minute. And this being my first case fan purchase, I was pleasantly surprised of the amount of air this thing can move.

I'm planning to replace the rest of my 3 case fans to this one gradually.

I'm not a fan (no pun intended) of having my computer look like something bought from National Market, so I had some insulation tape applied over the LED's. Do this instead of cutting out the wires.

Pros:
Using it as an intake fan (front) and it's doing the job pretty well. The fan is silent, you will hear it only when the room is quiet and the AC is turned ON. In normal situations where the ceiling fan and the speakers are working, it won't be audible at all.

Cons:
It should have shipped with PWM function.

Other thoughts:
I expected the LEDs to be very bright but they seem very normal to me (which is a pro for me but can be a con for others).

These lil fans are awesome. The 90+ CFM help move lot of air into the case pretty quickly.
For someone like me with a cramped case with loads of accessories and components I needed a strong but reasonably priced coolers to intake from the front and bottom and exhaust from the top. Since installing I have never recorded 40 degrees on any components in the case. The LED intensities are pretty good. I wish I cud control them as well with my NZXT Sentry 2.
