Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced Mid Tower Cabinet

I don't know how many in our country are opting for water cooling,but if you are the one opting for it this is the best case available at this price level.jamm packed with features like.

i)completely meshed panels(more air flow)
ii)3.5 HDD dock(plug and play).
iii)fully black painted internals(better thermal dissipation)
iv)Removable HDD cage(create room for the 2nd dual 120mm radiator at the bottom)
v)support 2 dual 120mm radiator(quicker cooling for coolant,even allows to run parallel water loops)
vi)fits the corsair H100 very easily
vii)all these features at this price level is another plus.

Highly recommendable.

Lots of metal and so heavy. Lots of ventilation, with hexagonal openings and supported wire meshes. Lots of provisions for fans (3 comes with OEM edition with the front one being transparent with LED light for some psychedelic effect, which can be switched on/off, thankfully). On Fixing 8-10 fans in the cabinet, more open sections in immediate proximity to a fan will lead to short circuiting of flow. But the saving grace is that most of the fans are suction type, with a wire mesh for filtering dust, except the one on the rear. Use suction type only. You can see the settled dust and scrub clean with a paint brush every now and then to not only keep the cabinet clean, but also improve the ventilation. I had to position and re-position the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO cooler over the CPU to optimize the air flow to wards cool the CPU and the RAM modules.

There are lots of holes and cut outs and rubber flaps for cable management and heat pipes, if you need to use some.Assembling the components in the cabinet was pretty smooth and precise. Most of the assembly does not require any tools. Some big holes may allow small lizards.

The 3.5" external bay with a loose lid and USB ports and audio out put, though seems unwieldy with cables hampering the tray movement of the optical drives, it is very useful for using laptop HDD's and SSD's without any cables. Handy in quick backups. The flipside is that thick wires obstruct mounting of optical drive at the top. Lots of place for 3.5" internal drives.

Overall nice engineered piece.

I purchased this chassis from a near computer store. I wanted to write this review as i'm using this chassis.

Appearance :

This chassis appear tp be lot bigger that what you see in the pic. It's big and quite spacious from inside. Front panel has a blue led intake 140mm fan and 140mm non-led fan in the rear. Led can be turned on/off using the on/off switch. IO Panel has the power, reset, 2x usb 2.0 port, 1 esata port and led switch. There's a little space to keep your flash drive and other accessories. Extra cooling options are available at the top, side and bottom. It also support liquid cooling and radiator can be fitted at the rear, top or at the botton inside the chassis. It has a nice black finishing inside/outside and almost every part of the chassis has a dust filter except for the side panel on the right. Chassis itself is really durable and sturdy. No clear window.

Packaging :

Packaging was excellent and cooler master made to pack it well enough to withstand any kind of accidental damage. Package comes with lots of screw (all black) and other stuff useful for managing cables. 7 Expansion slots at the back with thumb screws. Front panel and top panel is detacable.

Assembling :

After I assembled my system and looked inside, there's was plenty of space. Enough space to use long graphics card or to setup SLI/CFX. Installing the hard drive, optical drive, motherboard, graphics card and other devices was really simple. No setup guide provided and I'm sure people might get confused while installing Hdd,Odd and motherboad. Hdd cage can't be rotated or shifted. Hdd cage has rubber gromets and no screws are need for installation. I used screwdriver for installing the motherboard and PSU. All other parts we're install with the help of toolless setup or thumb screws. PSU us bottom mounted.

Cable Management :

It's excellent almost 85% of the cables can be hidden easily. Plenty of space on the side to hide all cable and the side cover closes without any kind of obstruction. Plenty of holes to take in/out cables from any side of the mainboard.

Been using it for a year and a half. It's completely toolless, and the mesh filters help a lot with the amount of dust entering the case. The metal meshes are delicate, though, and need to be handled with care. It even has a bottom floor mesh for the power supply intake fan. I also occasionally use the top SATA dock to plug in my laptop's internal HDD if I know I won't be needing the laptop for a while (much faster than WiFi, and better than Gigabit Ethernet because you don't have to keep your laptop powered on). The dock will accommodate full 3.5" HDD's as well.

Half an inch more space beneath the motherboard tray would make cable routing much more easier. Most of the rest has already been covered by Ventatesh.D in his review.

i planned to write a review about this case as soon as i took out of the box ...i must say this ! "it's a king of cabinet cases" ...built quality is awesome...it the best case with n aggressive looks..what i loved the most about this case is that it has plenty of room for extra fans ,optical and internal drives and for water cooling..the open vent in the top and front with filters allows some airflow and the temperature will be reduced.. i'm loving it.. thanks cooler master and flipkart for the excellent service..
