Frequently Bought Together With This Product
I purchased this product because of the very good reviews, now i regret it.
The setup is Pentium D 805 and Intel D101GGC Mobo. The case have 80mm intake and 80mm exhaust(SMPS) fans. So the inside air circulation is good enough for a low end PC, without a discreet GPU.
Product:
The heat sink is made up of aluminum. The space between fins is greater than that of stock cooler. The entire product is lighter and the contact surface is 2CM in diameter, less than that of stock cooler. The contact surface is made of aluminum instead of copper like in the stock cooler.
The fan is 95mm, got a 3pin connector, so speed can be measured. The stock cooler has a 4pin fan.
I tested the stock and CM coolers using 'System stability test' in Everest.
First, I tested the stock cooler without cleaning it. It is covered with years of dust. The dust prevents the heat tranfer to air from sink. The readings are in degree Celsius
IDLE
Mobo: 35
CPU : 55
LOAD
Mobo: 36
CPU : 74 (100% load for 2min)
Then I installed the CM Cooler, and ran the test again.
IDLE
Mobo: 35
CPU : 60
LOAD
Mobo: 37
CPU : 75 (100% load for 10 sec)
The readings are not so good (Tj of pentium is 75 - not sure).
Then i disassembled the stock cooler and cleaned it using soap. The contact surface is then leveled using high grade sand paper(2000) and installed it back. The new readings are
IDLE
Mobo: 38
CPU : 54
LOAD: 38
CPU : 72 (100% load for more than 2 mins).
Which is much better than CM, and notice a 3 degree rise ambient temperature this time.
So the stock cooler is better for me.So model is not good for the LGA775 Pentiums, may be that's why CM does not specifies them in the spec. Anyway, is you are facing high temperature issues, try cleaning the stock cooler or buy a high quality one like TX3 or so.All other guys seems to be using core 2 cpus, the performance may differ for such CPUs.
Heat Sink works awesome. Cooler-master lives up to its reputation.
I cleaned the core cover surface with spirit/cleaning alcohol/isopropyl alcohol/ethanol (all names are the same thing) & J&J ear buds. Wiped the surface clean completely with the alcohol.. TAKING CARE not to let the liquid drip into the core... and then mounted this heat-sink on the core. WORKING LIKE A WONDER....
my stock Intel cooler used to struggle to cool my core and would keep it in the range of 60 - 75 C.... now with the cleaning and then usage of this heat-sink.. temp ranges between 40 - 55 C ... it works
be sure to clean the core surface "WELL" before using this sink or its effectiveness reduces DRASTICALLY!!!!!
Also the heat-sink needs to be mounted on a metal casing that needs to be put BELOW the motherboard... so that's one activity you need to be comfortable doing.. or get some help .. its not a worry.. go ahead and purchase this.
I had to rebuild my machine as my old motherboard(Asus P5N E SLI)had gone kaput. While rebuilding the stupid flimsy plastic leg of the stock cooler broke while trying to reinsert it into the motherboard.this caused my cpu to have an idle temp or around 50 and it went up 90 at the max while load. Now its running smoothly and does not exceed 78 on full load(This was during the stress test through prime 95.Whats more..this has improved my Windows experience index score from 5.1 to 6.1 for the processor as well ram seems to be increased to a score of 6.1.Im very satisfied with this and it being just 281 Rs i didnt even have to think twice.Flipkart as usual delivered above my expectations. Thanks for the wonderful work you guys are doing at flipkart you will be seeing a lot of me buying stuff from your website soon..This does not deserve less than a 5.
this heat sink is useless instead of cooling down my cpu's temperature increased to 3 degrees. Here is the comparison between my stock cooler foxconn and this cooler master.
Cpu : intel core to duo
foxconn : idle temp = 37-38.5 degree celcius
100 % load = 58-60 degrees celcius
while playing games = 46-48 degrees
cooler master : idle temp = 40-42 degrees celcius
100 % load = 60-63 degrees celcius
while gaming = 50-53 degrees celcius
the problem is that cooler master's heat sink has a little surface to contact with cpu as compared to foxconn therefore cpu transfers heat from that point of contact only while foxconn's heat sink which is my stock sink covers the entire cpu therefore thermal transfer is much better.I will say do not buy if your stock sink has greater point of contact, plus the thermal paste in it vanished within seconds.
Always Flipkart is best to deliver before time. Got it in just 2 days. Very awesome CPU cooler for just 290 rs.
Reason for calling it Good =
1. Before that when I used to play Call of Duty MW 3 , my cpu goes 70C and hangs for sometimes. Now When I play this game my Cpu goes up to 50C. Thats very good for playing my game with no hassles.
2. It do not have any push pins. You just need a screw driver to install it.
3. It comes with cooling paste which is pasted below the heat sinker. (I have ordered a cooling paste from another site. Just wasted my money. You guys do not do this)
4. This Heat Sinker supports LGA 775 Socket. Like Pentium 4, Dual Core, HT etc.
Happy of buying it. :) :) :)
cpu temperature with my stock cooler was always >90C and when it reaches 100C+ my system used to shutdown arbitarily
